  • I do prefer Edge at my work and same feature but for Outlook feels very weird and unintuitive and I can not see any use for having Outlook on the browser sidebar when I open link from desktop Outlook. Disabled that feature after it started to annoy me too much.

  • Furthermore the bots’ solving times are significantly lower in all cases, except reCAPTCHA, where human solving time of 18 seconds is nearly similar to the bots’ time of 17.5 seconds.

Due to this solving time captchas still provide an easy method how to reduce spammy request count. Also kind of doubt it is super easy to create your own setup that would bypass captchas so everyone could do this, but there probably are 3rd party services exactly for this.

  • Dislike the video format, but all the points seem valid, Mozilla has definitely taken a lot of questionable decisions and Firefox has not been their main focus for quite some time.

Do not care much about privacy myself as far as Google and other generic tracking is concerned, I just like the add-ons and certain features in FF when compared with Chromium based browsers so that is still my main browser for personal use. For work I prefer to use Edge.

Let's see if Mozilla will use opportunity that Chromium browsers soon switching to Manifest V3 will provide with their future gimped adblock add-ons. Or maybe they will just do a similar change on FF side soon.

  • Checked pinned megathread?

Deemix - Downloads from Deezer in 320 kbps mp3 or FLAC. You need to have premium account for high quality downloads or find something called ARL cookies for login on the web. Looks like original download source is down, but there are checksums so just hunt down a mirror that matches them

Soulseek - P2P sharing specifically for music

  • Why exactly you should be able to do it? Because of an ideology that you hold? It does not make any sense business wise for Samsung to develop ROM that could be smoothly run on random phones, it is their IP which is their revenue.

Google itself does not provide all of the Pixel-only features because that's their own thing, they want to sell it not just hand it out.

We in theory already have a mechanism for showing dissatisfaction - Do not like something, do not buy it.

Currently the best options if you want to have a phone with newest OS for a long time:

    • Samsung or Pixel since they provide the longest support
    • iOS because they are still the best at OS update support
    • Android phone with unlockable bootloader and active developer support
  • I wanted to report Sync issue about sorting by old for both posts and comments since nothing is returned, but after checking from browser, turns out it is Lemmy issue. Checked multiple instances, same thing for all of them.

  • Made a mistake about comparison. Education is comparable to Enterprise and not Pro. Have experience only for these 2 editions so no idea what's the situation with Home and Pro and if there really are ads that cannot be disabled.

    1. I like newest OS versions. Visually I do like it better as well. Kind of wish I could get back rectangular design though, not a fan of rounded corners, but that is very minor thing. When I say nothing much has changed, I mean the backend, backwards compatibility. Everything you know about Windows since 8.1 still applies + some additional features, improvements.
    2. Do not have ads. Maybe because I am in Europe or maybe because I have Education (Same as Pro Enterprise) license or because I am using local and not MS account.
    3. Do not care about telemetry. Have disabled most "personalization" things. I am fine with MS collecting random basic telemetry like HW inventory / SW crashes or whatever they collect.
  • I sort of want to try barebones/native experience now. Old context menu can be accessed by holding shift when needed so it does not bother me much, probably there is a simple registry fix as well if you would want to always get it by default.

For me only main initial annoyance with W11 was no seconds for clock in taskbar, but that was added some time ago so I am fine.

Previosly I used start replacement Classic Shell, but not anymore. Kind of realized I do search instead of clicking what I want anyways. Besides Win7 like start menu looking more pleasant for me, I do not care about it much anymore.

  • For the most part there is practically no difference between 10 and 11 minus changes in UI and higher HW requirements. If someone liked 10, do not see why 11 would be different. Same in theory could be said about 8.1 and 10. Most of the UI changes are better IMO, but there are some annoyances mainly related to taskbar.

I believe the only thing that many could dislike and have impact on daily work, would be the new context menu. It can be swapped to old one, but as of now there is no easy setting / toggle for that.
