  • It's true you don't see many punk women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance, that they are often mistaken for punk men.

And this in turn has given rise to the belief that there are no punk women, and that punks just spring out of holes in the ground!

    Which is, of course, ridiculous.

  • It might not be written literally like that but for Microsoft not letting third party developers write kernel drivers for windows would be considered abusing their position in the market very fast. The problem isn't they allow kernel drivers, this is just ms throwing all the balls they can, is that they certified this very driver, as tested and stable. Without this certification most IT teams would've been more reticent to install crowdstrike's root kit in their systems.

  • Can confirm. I've crashed most Microsoft products from msdos 5.

  • Hard to say yet, if Microsoft is responsible or not. The thing is they certified it, as a stable and tested driver. But it isn't just a driver, but an interpreter/loader that loads code at runtime and executes it. In kernel mode. If Microsoft knew this they're definitely responsible for certifying it, but maybe crowdstrike hid this behavior until it was deployed to the customers.

  • 'He's out of line but he's right'. I mean, is a bit ironic to give this level of permission to a program that is too malware-like to protect yourself from exactly that. We're talking about hospitals, airports and airlines, government agencies... many critical systems, so much information's security rely on a (foreign for most of the world) private company.

  • Some people are gonna vote D/R no matter what, some will never vote D/R. The problem at hand is not those, is taking the people that could vote D 'off their seats' and go cast that vote. Biden's not moving anyone, which could seriously result in losing the election, and I think Harris on top of not moving these could make the people that have a problem with her being a woman of color or a prosecutor go vote for Trump. The perceive problem is a real concern.

  • I wasn't saying if what they said is right or wrong, or making any interpretation, just saying it's their work to put out these reports. The article only mentions 'rising' taxes, tho.

Agree with the second, only thing to add is that if anyone was expecting that politicians i.e. rich, privileged, and powerful people would do anything but favor the rich, privileged, and powerful people they're an idiot.

  • I only said that these reports is the only thing the imf does, like its only reason to exist, so it is literally its business. But also, and again economics is not my forte so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, lower rates than inflation only means free money for the rich. And if I understand correctly is Biden the one wanting to lower taxes to the rich ($400k/year is NOT working class).

    Edit:

    eat the rich

Unironically/literally this. Watching the recording of a fellow billionaire being roasted and devoured by a mob of poor folk would put a bit of fear in them.

  • Economics is not my strong suit but, aren't exactly these kind of things imf's whole 'damn business'?

  • I had an iPhone (4, don't remember if it had usb tethering) but I didn't even think of it. I think it was Debian 6 the one I was installing and there was one or two people with android phones...but whatever! Walking is healthy, isn't it?

  • In the case of Debian I think it is philosophical. It's been years since I've had to install proprietary things on Debian, but they used to be all in the non-free repository that you had to add manually. Honestly I like it, it reminds me I'm putting proprietary crap in the machine. Can be a pain in the ass when the wifi doesn't work because some proprietary firmware is missing, and the laptop doesn't have an Ethernet port so off you go to buy a usb-eth adaptor.

  • The man wouldn’t last an hour a minute working on an actual ranch.

  • My money, seeing how badly the dnc wants Trump to win, would be on them running a similarly unviable candidate like Harris.

  • "...and I honestly shat myself thinking..." Also "goth" can be a goth, emo, metal head, or other adjacent subculture.. I'm not really sure what the deal with goths in Scotland is.

  • PNG is a good format for graphics, lettering, logos... not photography so unless your video is some cartoons you're using png compression for something is not meant for.

  • I think what the other commenter meant was that for many people, like yourself, a D near the name is enough to vote for that person but the bar can be higher for other people. If the dems had put (might be time yet?) a not-absurdly-bad candidate, as they have now, they would've won easily. But seeing how it's going you guys are gonna enjoy four years (hopefully only four) of Trump as president, and the rest of the world will have to put up with all his crap as well.

  • Does he think Europe has cut-rate health care?

As a Euro-wanker I can assure you we do, that's why no rich person uses it over here–they go to private clinics unless it's grave enough and they are rich enough, then they go to America.

  • I don't think they asked all the Russian population, that's not how polls usually work.

  • How so? Honest question, I can't seem to find anything that is not super pro-corporations like the prohibition on modding consoles with tens of thousands dollar fines or even prison sentences...

  • Apple: 'Mobile platform? Nah this is just a game console' winks at Nintendo and Sony
