Musk burned through 44 billion dollars to acquire Twitter and then he wrecked it. This is not a guy who has a plan. He only cares about that dopamine hit that getting his name in the news gets him. Now he's got his own social media platform that only exists to blow him.
The problem with Trump is that he's a known quantity to anyone who has lived on Earth for the last 50 years. He's a compulsive liar, literally about everything and a vile, disgusting person, as well.
Knowing that, I would find it impossible to "just consider the facts" and believe that maybe . . . just maybe, this is the one time he's telling the truth.
Agreed. Elmo is only in this because he wants that dopamine hit of attention that front-page news gets him. It's why bought Twitter. Getting on the front page, just for a moment is all that matters to him.
Also, it is LONG past time we got over our child-like worship of billionaires. It's embarrassing to watch.
If a website stops working because it won't let you block ads, then THEY'RE the one with the problem, not us. I won't stop blocking advertising just because some company decides that my home is their place of business and says it's "not allowed."
The Internet is designed to route around damage (like the kind of damage caused by companies that try to make parts of it unusable). Folks will create new, open-source browsers, or flock to alternative websites that respect their privacy (and property).
Yup. When your choice is between boring, middle-of-the-road corporatist and 100% concentrated evil, you must choose the less-destructive candidate for the good of the nation, even if they don't "do it" for you.
Some of these duplicate communities are just placeholders. But sometimes, the differences are obvious, where one community Is populated by jerks or modded by power-trippers.
Over time, the more popular community will become clear by the number of subscribers. (Or the real, topical one will give itself a different name to avoid confusion with the jerks).
Because as long as there's a lien on your car, the bank that owns it wants to make sure it's thoroughly insured until it's paid for. Their insurance is mandatory and usually much more comprehensive (and expensive).
Both Musk and Zuckerberg have those lidless, reptilian eyes. Black eyes . . . like a doll's eyes. And when they come at ya, they don't even seem to be livin' . . .
Agreed. It's not cowardly or "anti-competitive" to choose to avoid stepping in crap. Because that's what Facebook and Twitter are. Single ownership of an entire social media is a terrible idea, because that platform will always be promoting and protecting the interests of its owners, not its users.
Good news. According to lemmy explorer, there are "Ask Historians" communities on 3 different Instances. (the one on "lemmygrad.ml" has the most subscribers right now but it's only 403.)
I would add the URL link to Lemmy Explorer, as well. A lot of the Lemmy mobile apps have "Lemmy.ml" as the default Instance login and it's going to get dogpiled tomorrow if folks don't have a way to search for their favorite community.
Easily "World War Z." What an utter waste of the source material.
