my opinion is that people who push for it havent lived in it. everything is lowest common denominator, if you can even get it. no incentive to invent, no reward for innovation.

they often called it nuking. took a good 15 years before mass acceptance. early ones had warnings about standing near with pacemakers could kill you.

it was bad for the studio. its production budget ballooned to $175M, total cost $235M. the most expensive movie ever made at the time. it lost money at the box office.

im not nostalgic for the turbographix/genesis era that straddled the 8bit cpu with 16 bit graphics and struggled. home computers were way more amazing at the time.

the logic is depreciation. if you sold your car at 7 it is worth a lot more than at 11. imagine buying a 1 year old cellphone and selling it at 2 years old. compare that to buying a brand new cellphone and keeping it 6 years. the depreciation is related to the markets expectations of the items functionality vs it needing expensive repairs. a 3-7 year old car generally is reliable and considered functional. obviously different brands and models differ on these curves. a 7 year old honda is very different from a maserati.

stop trying to find someone who likes what you like and hates what you hate. try to find someone who you enjoy anyway and treats you well.

start them a month early, give yourself grace on sputtering starts.
