Thunder has been my go to since Liftoff stopped getting updates and 19.0 effectively caused a lockout. That being said, I am really ooking forward to trying out Raccoon once it hits F-Droid or play store (too lazy to compile myself tbh) as everything I've seen from the dev has been positive.
Edit: just checked and looks like the tester version IS available in the playstore finally. Exciting news đ
He's not. We need to ensure they're held to account in this life rather than hoping for an imaginary recompense in death (I know that's not what you meant, just dislike the general apathy this line of thinking can breed, even if it is useful as a venting mechanism)
You're always free to spin up your own server and host it if you're concerned about the way your data is being handled. Not something you can do with the corporate alternatives
I agree with you on the Palestine comment, however, that has nothing to do with the topic at hand. How would DNC primarying Biden in any way have an impact on how media and political parties are framing readily available and verifiable facts as debatable political points?
And yet the very assholes complaining about Ukraine aid and blocking funding are also complaining about Food Stamps and other "entitlements" and refusing to take free federal dollars for things like child nutrition summer programs. Miss me with the bullshit. As if Republicans gave a fuck about funding the social safety net.
I get her point at the end re: this affects all people in the US, even though the younger generations didn't have any say in it, however, imo the argument is a bad one. It seems to boil down to "yeah this shit is dumb and a waste of space, but think of the overall economy." Imo that's a bad argument because it does the same thing that got us into this clusterfuck to begin with: prioritizes current and short term market returns at the expense of a more sensible transportation, living, and corporate commuting policies that we should be focusing on instead.
This one feels a bit off the mark. Women served in key leadership roles as the party grew and evolved (partly owing to the fact that most of the original leadership was either imprisoned or murdered straight out). Is that to say that there were not problematic actions that should be called out re: women and their treatment within the party early on? Absolutely not. One of the things Huey later came to see as detrimental was his insistence on free association early on (i.e., free love) which ended up causing drama and caused a lot of harm particularly to the women involved in the arrangements later on. That being said, here are the words from the horses mouth (so to speak) re: women and other oppressed marginalized groups:
"Whatever your personal opinions and your insecurities about homosexuality and the various liberation movements among homosexuals and women (and I speak of the homosexuals and women as oppressed groups), we should try to unite with them in a revolutionary fashion. I say âwhatever your insecurities areâ because as we very well know, sometimes our first instinct is to want to hit a homosexual in the mouth and want a woman to be quiet. We want to hit a homosexual in the mouth because we are afraid that we might be homosexual; and we want to hit the woman or shut her up because we are afraid that she might castrate us or take the nuts that we might not have to start with. We must gain security in ourselves and therefore have respect and feelings for all oppressed people.
What truly did the party in was a combination of FBI and police assassinations, too much trust placed in Eldridge Cleaver (which Huey, again, came to regret later on), too much reliance on whitewashed panther satellites and academic-first "revolutionaries," along with Huey and Bobby spending close to a decade in prison and off the streets, during which time the party had morphed away from their community action roots and been splintered due to infighting.
I highly recommend Huey's "Revolutionary Suicide" for an insider's look and opinion (also, it's just a great read overall from a fascinating individual).
Edit: also, to call them an "extremis group" betrays, imo, bias founded on decades worth of whitewashed government propaganda.
I can see that as a valid counter argument. To be honest I'm not informed enough on the data to be able to weigh the two properly against each other personally. Out of curiosity, do you think there could ever be a system (or have any been proposed that you're aware of) that would help provide the transparency but not at the cost of loss of privacy and freedom of vote?
I've heard better arguments from an L1 than this bozo. But you know what they say: if the law is on your side, pound the law. If the facts are on your side, pound the facts. If neither is on your side, pound the table. All he has is the table.
Agreed. There definitely needs to be a balance. But there are, imo, middle ground paths. If we just started with automatic voter registration for all adults, expanded the drop off ballot system, instituted a vote verification system for voters themselves (i.e., I get a slip receipt at my voting place and can verify how it was counted anytime with ability to dispute and challenge), mandated non-political population based districting and poling location placements (vs. allowing politically elected representatives to dictate), made voting day a mandatory holiday where everything shuts down, and got rid of this archaic stand in a group in a church caucus system, I think we'd see public trust in our election systems restored quite a bit. That being said, I recognize that this is, in our current environment, a pipe dream.
What is "normal warfare?"
