  • As someone confused as to how you get duped into sending nudes

Prosecutors said starting as early as February 2020, Waithe used the sham social media accounts to contact women, saying he had found compromising photos of them online. He would then offer to help the women get the photos removed, asking them to send additional nude or semi-nude photos that he could purportedly use for “reverse image searches,” prosecutors said.

Waithe further invented at least two female personas — “Katie Janovich” and “Kathryn Svoboda” — to obtain nude and semi-nude photos of women under the purported premise of an “athlete research” or “body development” study, investigators said.

He also joined sites that allowed him to connect with others to distribute the stolen images and trade sets of images with other users.

  • It's amazing what you can get statistics to say when you decide what you want it to say before you decide what data to count.

I'm sure there are valid economic reasons to not include it...and I'm also pretty sure those reasons are made up obfuscate a larger goal of maintaining the status quo.

  • Minimize the amount of things (as much as you can), designate specific areas/rooms for the piles of toys/ games where you can let things get messier and get rid of the ones nobody plays with that just take up space, get the kids into the habit of putting things back (if possible you can even have the oldest eventually 'supervise' the others as long as that doesn't lead to even worse fighting), or just pick a weekend day that you just put everything back together so at least you know you can get it back to normal and feel less bad about it when it's a horrible mess on a Thursday evening.

Also paper/plastic plates and utensils when it's all just too much. Not great for the environment but the lack of a pile of dishes may be worth a lot of mental health.

  • From the actual paper:

To do this, we asked respondents to rate each president on a scale of 0-100 for their overall greatness, with 0=failure, 50=average, and 100=great. We then averaged the ratings for each president and ranked them from highest average to lowest.

I would categorize "dead within a month" generally as a failure, which is where I think a lot of the scholars polled went with it.
