  • I'm not making excuses for anyone here --

I expect it is extremely confusing for many people when "Jewish" is a religion, an ethnicity, a nationality, a nation, and a political football. This leads to anything the Israeli government opposes to be construed in the same light, which is how we get people equating "Palestinians living in severe apartheid conditions inside the borders of the nation of Israel" with "Hamas." And, of course, anyone who opposes the actions of the Israeli government is likely to get branded "antisemitic," because if you oppose the Jewish nation you must also oppose the Jewish religion, ethnicity, and nationality, right? (Narrator: Wrong.)

Because of this conflation of so many different things being called the same thing, I try to make absolutely clear what I'm talking about (when I dare dip my toe into those shark-infested waters). Hamas fucking sucks. The Israeli government fucking sucks. What both of those entities do - and have done for a very long time - demonstrate that they are both genocidal shitbags. Supporters of either, be they Israeli citizens, Palestinians, or third parties, fucking suck right alongside them.

  • The only way Microsoft or OpenAI would know this would be to spy on chatbot sessions. I’m sure the terms of service—if I bothered to read them—gives them that permission.

    Well there's your problem.

  • If Americans wanted Americans to care about the US, including treason against it, they shouldn’t have voted to sell it, including its people, off wholesale to the capitalists.

That's kind of literally what the American Revolution was about, at least in the north.

  • And if that doesn’t work, then plan for the revolution.

Don't wait until "that doesn't work." It's already not working well enough to turn the tide. My gut tells me that come November, no matter the outcome of the election, there are going to be a whole bunch of people who need protecting. I intend to be prepared for that eventuality.

  • I haven't even gotten to the text of the story, because I was stopped in my tracks by the stupidest stock photo I have ever seen, wherein someone in full riot gear with an ultra-modern machine pistol is prepared to shoot someone at point blank range, when they're already in handcuffs, which are, inexplicably, in front and not behind. And how cold is it in that basement that you'd be working while wearing a hoodie (with the hood up, of course) and a jacket zipped up over it?

  • Not saying you're wrong, but -- it turns out that more people with indigenous North American heritage prefer to be called "Indians," followed by "Native Americans," and then "Other." I still think "Native Americans" is the best general term, but even that papers over the vast array of different indigenous nations on the continent.
