  • Not his first term but Trump seems ready to let Israel really take its gloves off and probably let the war expand into Lebanon and maybe Iran. Biden hasn't really done shit but at least Israel seems somewhat afraid he might pull funding enough not to expand the war too much, trump will probably just give them a blank cheque.

  • Where are you getting that they're potentially worse? They may have some adverse effects but they seem minor compared to sugar. For aspartame there seems to be some studies possibly linking it with cancer, but those are very limited and even after those studies came out the WHO reaffirmed it's safety at normal levels. Meanwhile actual sugar has been proven to cause diabetes, heart disease, obesity etc. Sucralose doesn't seem to show any adverse effects at normal doses.

A lot of the controversy on artificial sweeteners comes from the sugar lobby combined with moral panics and conspiracies on using "chemicals" in foods.

  • I thought this was was supposed to go until Hamas was destroyed, and it looks like they've been re-occupying previously "cleared" areas up north.

Almost as if this operation had no solid achievable goals and was just an exercise in over zealous retribution, killing as many Palestinians until they felt they got even.

At least we know now that Joe thought that number was 40,000 , I'm afraid to see what netanyahu's is.

  • You could tax based on citizenship, could make it the same €400,000 limit so it doesn't effect normal expats and lower the rate a bit. Yeah the ultra rich can just buy citizenship in another country but many have at least a smidgeon of patriotism and won't want to lose there citizenship.

  • It sort of has to be Harris because the moneys on her, literally. The Biden Harris campaign currently holds hundreds of millions in campaign donations, if Harris becomes the nominee she can use that money pretty easily, but if someone else takes over transferring that money becomes way more complex if it's even possible.

  • What are you talking about, before the debate he was even now he's down by 2 points and his approval rating is hitting new lows. For context he was up by 8 points this time last cycle to win a close election in November. Joe is falling behind and people don't like him, ignoring people's dislike for a candidate is how we lost 2016.

  • Idk, the colonists had a vested interest in expelling the French from the Ohio territory, so that they could expel all the Indians and take the land. Also most of them still considered themselves English, and therefore despised the French so public support for the war was probably pretty high.

  • Where is this reasoning that "Biden should withdraw" is a Russian talking point coming from besides the paranoid delusions of liberals who blame everything bad on Russia. Putin knows even less then us on whether Biden withdrawing would be good or bad for trump.

It's not even like this is a fringe idea any more, members of the house are calling for him to step down and even pelosi thinks it's a legitimate question, are they Russian trolls? We need to have a serious discussion on this and not dismiss the other side as a psyop like alex Jones, otherwise we're gonna let inertia carry us to a loss like in 2016.

  • This isn't 2020 though, at this point in 2020 Biden had a 8 point lead on Trump and even then he only won a narrow victory in the electoral college with Pennsylvania, Arizona and Wisconsin, now he's down by 2 points overall and down even worse in those swing states. Then he was a relative unknown and people were willing to give him a shot against the known evil of trump . Now people have gotten to see him and they do not like what they see, his approval rating is worse then Trump's was at the depths of the pandemic.

  • The last line "we have to do everything in our power to stop him" makes me think this was actually a campaign decision. Vote for me or the trump death squads are coming!

We won't do anything in our power right now to make sure that he can't make death squads, that's on you the voter, and if you don't re-elect Joe then you'll have only yourself to blame. Same reason they'll probably never codify roe v Wade, it takes away one of their main selling points.

  • I was talking about Cornell west, the article the other commenter linked was saying he was turning hard left because he spoke at a conference that had the PSL (ml tanky party) candidate and some China simp speaking as well, even though he didn't endorse them or even talk about them.

  • Whitmer, klobuchar, newsom , Warnock, pritzker, hell i'll even take buttigieg, literally anyone on the 2020 debate stage before the center collapsed in on Joe Biden after Obama told them too.

What campaign, he's literally running on being better then trump and he still somehow failed at that, put anyone else on that debate stage and Trump would've been cooked. What is bidens personal selling point? His platform is the standard democrat party line, he's an old white man from a solid blue state so he's not bringing any constituencies from his identity, he's even lost his wise elder statesman angle after that last debate. If you put any other democrat in they could not be trump just as well if not better then Biden.

  • I'll give you stein but just because west shared a stage with a couple tankies doesn't make him a Russian asset. Yeah he wants an end to the war but that seems motivated by a legitimate fervent anti-imperialist isolationism rather than a sympathy for Putin.

  • These prudes would be terrified of San Francisco, whole city is clothing optional. No one ever really does it cause it's too cold though saw a couple out today for pride. Sucks there banning it in a place that would actually be comfortable to do it.

  • Weathers only part of it, a large part is cost of living and especially housing costs. People have this idea that people become mentally unwell drug addicts then lose housing then move to California for the better weather/ more compassionate state. In reality a lot of it is the reverse, people live in California, lose they're housing due to astronomical rents, then they become mentally unwell drug addicts due to the pain and trauma they suffer on the streets.

Last point still stands though, we do need a green new deal to give these people housing and employ them in meaningful jobs to help the green transition.
