  • You've got it reversed, the u.s. isn't going to war with a super power over a country most people can't point to on a map. It's even a question how far sanctions would go if they invaded, if you look at the Russian example the sanctions are pretty half ass and Russian petroleum is still flowing to the west, maybe less but they're still taking in money and there economy is doing way better then before the invasion. For all the talk westerners aren't willing to go cold in the winter or pay more at the pump for Ukraine.

That's for a country with a way smaller role in the global supply chain, fuck dying for Taiwan the real question is whether Americans could give up their cheap consumerist bullshit for Taiwan. China knows this too, it's just whether they want to act on it and make themselves a pariah state.

  • this would push investors towards the non-included class of real estate

You'd have to pay property tax then, and unless your in California your paying that on your "unrealized gains" as well since they'll re-asses your property every few years and tax you on the newly assessed value.

  • And zionists have white evangelicals who just want Jews to go to Israel to die in Armageddon while they get raptured on there side. There are also a lot of Zionist white supremacists as well, even Hitler thought it was a good idea for a while. Get all the Jews out of Europe and the Americas and onto the one spot in the Middle East that doesn't have oil to fight with the Arabs sounds great if your a Nazi and don't want to go full final solution.

  • He's still polling just under 5%, yeah he's not gonna win but that's still better then any other third party candidate in the last couple cycles and represents millions of (braindead) Americans. Even if you don't support him you should care he's endorsing trump as the race is still very tight and if a majority of his supporters follow him into the trump camp that could be it for Harris.

  • llms suck because they steal content and are unreliable since they don't link back to sources

Open ai makes a deal to pay media org for there content and makes it so they can link back to original article

    "Ars technica sold out"

  • As long as they aren't using there platform to promote dumb reactionary views like Kanye or j.k. Rowling just let people enjoy themselves. To the extent that people view snoop as political it's usually in regards to him representing weed / black stoner lifestyle and it's broader acceptance and legalization, which I'm all for. Even the article you pointed to where he praised trump was for getting his friend off for a non - violent drug offense which is good, even if trump did it. It would be better if he was letting off the average lower class black person in jail for that but something's better then nothing.

  • Where, I'm in SF and can barely find anything under 20% . I ask at the dispensary what's there lowest percent strain and they usually point me to stuff in the high teens. Found some shit that was 14% a couple weeks ago and bought an ounce of it because I knew I wasn't gonna find anything that low for a while.

I'm finding myself longing for the prohibition days in college where the highest shit we got was 9%.

  • I would never pressure anyone to smoke, I just offer and pass it around until someone says there good. It's just that I don't know there tolerance and I'm not going to tell someone they can't handle something, that's there decision. I'll tell them the percentage/mg but like I said they probably don't know / remember there limit or tolerance as well. The person doing it has to figure out these things themselves because it effects everyone differently, but if they don't use it enough to figure that out they're just going to end up having a bad time.

  • I wish I could find shit with high CBD. Edibles are usually better for this and I can usually find a 1:1 CBD: THC but for bud it's either 25% THC and 0.6% CBD or 14% THC with no CBD.

  • I don't doubt that people don't like migrants, but most people don't like them because they "cause crime" or "take jobs" ( problems way smaller then the right wing media narrative about them) but the people in this photo are doing neither. These people are just existing as people of color which only upsets people who don't like migration simply because it allows more people of color to exist in the u.s. The people who don't like migrants because of that are racists and a minority of Americans, at least I hope they are.

Ask yourself why is the second photo bad and the first one good?

  • If this was there normal fear mongering of "look at this ms-13 member who raped and killed 5 kids" then yeah a normal person would probably get scared at that and want trump for immigration. But this is just a bunch of black people chilling, they aren't brandishing weapons or rioting or anything out of order. This literally only caters to people who feel threatened by the mere existence of black people, ie. Racists.

  • I feel more comfortable walking around them, they never blow stop lights /signs, always go the speed limit, never honk (except when parking I guess) and are very patient. If they see a pedestrian they just stop instead of creeping forward making you question whether to walk in front of them and then getting mad when you won't cross in front of their still moving car like people.

  • Overall pretty promising results, but the one that baffles me is the majority opposition to cutting military spending. Maybe I'm in a bubble but who the fuck looks at current spending levels and thinks that's a good thing, especially now that we aren't even at war. I guess the new cold war is ramping up with China but last I checked were still spending orders of magnitude more then them.

I always thought support for military spending was shallow and manufactured by the military industrial complex, but these polls seem to show a lot of people actually strongly support military spending. Looks like age is the biggest contributing factor, with under 45 supporting cuts while over 45 strongly opposing cuts. Maybe it's a cold war thing, of nostalgia and pride for the Reagan / top gun era american empire.

    1. Sapience is very ambiguous and hard to judge. Could definitely get away with saying chickens are less intelligent than a whale, a cow maybe, but a pig probably not.
    2. The whales currently being hunted, the minke whale and byrdes whale, are not endangered. The fin whale which they're currently considering in this article is vulnerable but not endangered. Probably shouldn't be hunting if it's vulnerable but there's a bunch of other fish that are vulnerable that no one gives a shit about eating.
  • I'm not denying that hamas has some very reactionary and horrible beliefs, but you can find statements like these in documents for the Taliban and Iranian government, that doesn't mean that we should have a war to eliminate them because as we learned from Afghanistan that doesn't work.

These statements are a reflection of legitimate anger at Israel through the lens of Islam. This anger stems from the lack of peaceful political options that Palestinians have for redress against Israel. Israel funded Hamas because they knew the jihad talk would scare western audiences with quotes like this and discredit this anger. If you allow Palestinians political options to solve there issues and a hope for a peaceful path to statehood then they wouldnt support Hamas and the movement would fizle out. If you keep bombing Gaza though the anger will only mount and the violence will continue, whether through Hamas or some other organization willing to fight back.

You can't eliminate this anger with bombs unless you commit genocide, so how do you propose to "eliminate" Hamas?

  • This isn't people voting against her for not being pro-israel. AIPAC doesn't run attack ads based off that because they know most people don't care and half of those who do care are on the other side. Most of there money and advertising goes to emphasizing other faults with the candidate that people do care about, for Bowman and Bush this time it was about not voting for the infrastructure bill with no context as to why. This isn't a reflection of a silent majority of Israel support, it's a reflection of what money can do in politics.

  • This idea that Hamas is the only problem and they just need to be "eliminated" is so short sighted and shows a complete lack of understanding of the situation. Do you really think that if Israel kills every member of Hamas, Israel can just leave and Gaza will be free and never attack Israel, because that is pure fantasy.

Hamas is a symptom of the underlying issues not the cause. The cause is cycles of assymetric violence, deprivation, and dispossession caused by Israel. Until those issues are solved there will always be orphans of the last conflict with no hope for a better future willing to commit acts of violence against the state they blame for there horrid conditions. There will also always be some organization, if not Hamas then possibly something worse (Islamic jihad), to direct and amplify that anger.

This also assumes Hamas can be eliminated, which is a big assumption. They've already started doing guerilla attacks in the previously "cleared" north. Support for Hamas has gone up since the war started and you can't kill a political movement with bombs, the u.s. learned that with Afghanistan. The only way is to remove the supporters of that movement, ethnic cleansing, which is Israels true endgame, because they know as soon as Hamas is eliminated another organization will just take its place.
