Going off of Russia’s rules, I think that means we (Canada) get to annex Oregon right?

I feel like we should expel them right? Their president is literally threatening annexation

Going to need more than a wall to keep the repercussions of all this out of Canada…

It seems short sighted because the rest of the west isn’t nearly as bad as the USA. Do they really think the American right wing population is THAT worth pandering to that they’d give up their reputation to everyone else?

Pride in Ottawa, Canada this year was pretty much corporate-less because the organisers publicly came out in support of Palestine and said they’d only accept companies on the right side of history in the parade

Corporations being corporations, most dropped out since they always have to be 100% safe on any statements of support obviously. It was actually so much better without them though.

We’ll see how it goes. We’re likely to have an election soon and there’s a chance we could vote in our own version of Trump (Pierre Poilievre). Luckily he’s gone from an unquestionable majority win in polling to a toss up with the Liberals because of people’s association of him with Trump. He’s desperately trying to shake that image but the best he came up with was a new slogan “Canada first” which is hilariously and obviously just a rip off of Trump’s “America first”

In the very depressing chance that PP wins though, I’d expect him to reverse course and let Trump walk all over our country…

What do you mean by putting tape over the logos? I’m imagining something like that you’ve duct taped over the front and centre Nike logo on a shirt but that seems silly

At this point even the pro-Canada American takes are pissing me off honestly

I’m also getting really fucking sick of this talking point. We’re not going to vote in American elections because we’re not going to be American and I don’t even want to hear any thought exercises on the subject

Definitely true, but the Liberals are starting to pull from the Cons a little bit from what I’ve seen. His first move being killing the consumer carbon tax killed both of PP’s talking points (carbon tax & Trudeau), while also showing that he’s different than Trudeau. That mixed with the fact that he’s kind of the stereotypical definition of a “fiscally aware” conservative politician where his entire focus is getting the country’s financials all in order above all else; at least if we ignore dealing with the sovereignty threats.

All that to say, I think he’ll more and more start pulling in the moderate conservatives that aren’t completely bought into the Facebook cesspit politics. PP is already very disliked to them so it wouldn’t take much

That's definitely a big part of it, but the alt-right pipeline/manosphere shit is real and out of control in western/American social media. Things are pretty hellish right now economy-wise all over and all the social media algorithms are perfectly tuned to push "solutions" or out-groups to blame for it all.

It's like if you don't already have a political leaning to purposely influence your feed, everything is now setup to push you down a far right wing path where everything is the fault of women, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, etc.
