  • There is nothing at all suggesting that this virus is some frozen zombie virus the panic-mills at sciency bullshit outlets want you to fear. Nothing at all. Orthopox are one of many strands of viruses that sweep back and forth our globe with varying target species and varying severity. Just like influenza, corona, rhino, etc.

  • This has all the hallmarks of yet another panic-bait-article... One sentence in the whole article renders it completely and utterly irrelevant. About the other cases, the article itself says:

All had mild cases and recovered without being hospitalized.

So all that's in this "news report" is that there are diseases that affect animals but not humans which can on occasion jump to humans but usually are pretty harmless then because they are equipped to deal with a cat's immune system, but not with a human immune system. This becomes irrelevant once said human immune system isn't working right.

This is not "breaking news". There is a loooong and ever changing list of pathogens in exactly this situation and there always will be.

  • Well, without knowing, your explanation (at least to me) is not a "why this happened so it's more understandable" but a description of the problem. Whatever the "policy" of the business, a "heat of the moment" action or one slip-up should never be allowed to lead to a cancellation in my decidedly German union member mind. Especially not after years of employment.

This could have lead to some citation or training or something, but not a cancellation.

If businesses lack those.laws, companies are never required to really train their ppl, because they can just hire and fire, expecting the knowledge they want to already be there.

  • “Where is actually our second big cuttingboard thither?"

    I lol'd

"Eigentlich" here would be "by the way" because it's used to express curiosity in a marginalised way. "wo ist... hin" is "where has... gone (to)"

So a more literal translation including the undertones would be "By the way, where has our big cutting board gone?"

  • I literally feel ill. Like physically ill. My wife blessed me with my baby boy and imagining that someone could force her to go what she went through to get him into this world is... IDK what it is... Too angry rn. Fucking disgusting fuckfaces!

  • Or when objectivity is not called for. All those fallacies and "unfair strategies" are described as they are in order to keep objective discussions at said objective level. Yet, when the discussion by it's nature cannot be objective, none of those "fallacies" apply as fallacies.

Besides: An appeal is not a bad tactic in any way, shape or form.

  • Oh yeah, two aging psychopaths jerking each other off with their respective victim narratives for an hour untill they cum hotnabd creamy bullshit all over the screen... Sounds very appealing this interview
