Because gun control is a solution to another problem. The problem isn't that guns exist, but that people die because guns are too prevalent. My original comment explicitly made fun of "just make the systemic problem illegal", somthe real equivalency would be "too many shootings, so make killing illegal and call the problem solved". You falsely adopted this to express your disbelief that a proposed measure to curb gun violence is effective which is not the same but was described as the same by you.
To be fair here, the article states that "some exceptions" apply in this "proposal" that is apparently not even written down as of yet, so your criticism is a little too early. There might be exceptions for illnesses or such.
Fuck Trump and his cronies to hell and back and then to hell again, but we can't lower ourselves to the same shady tactics of baseless outrage and assumptions we see doing so much harm when the GOP employs them.
You all are aware that the subversion of the constitutional state for what you deem to.be good reasons will end in the same weakening of said state no matter who did it, right?
Don't lose track of what's at stake by getting blinded by bipartisan feuds. You can't fight the enemies of law, oder and democracy by undermining law, order and democracy. That is literally the only thing one can learn from the Star Wars Prequel trilogy.
A duck walked up to my sleeping room stand and he asked the zombie next to the stand quak quak quak
"Hey, got any... sleep?"
Zombie in bed said that he did not but finally getting any would be really hot, so mind dimming your light?
The duck said "I might"
Then he collapsed on spot
"We should employ one of those self-driven carts that are all the rage right now"
"No... I don't think that's what 'they use in Europe'... I think we might have been scammed"
Thing is that I got the HDDs lying around already. The hub supplies 5v/3A so powershould not be an issue... Yet who knows... I could try to power the HDDs from a USB power supply with a split cable and see if that helps
I suspect that many people, perhaps including yourself and the OP, misapprehend the categories/segments/whatever “pushed” by trans people as prescriptive rather than descriptive.
That is a fantastic point. For me personally, I might tend to fall into this trap mostly because people from within one of those categories (whatever we like to call it) pushed rules on me from inside that box (how one from that particular box is to be adressed and such), so I assumed that people from within the boxes also must follow those rules, making the boxes perscriptive in my head. Thing is that a cis-person like myself will probably never remember one single interaction with trans-people that are just people but vividly remember those few pesky assrats who used them being trans to impose themselves on others, which is wrong but annoyingly human at the same time. I added an anectdote of what I mean below this, but it's mostly me ranting about overbearing people and how annyoing those can be, so feel free to skip it.
completely irrelevant rant to the discussion at large I frequented a lot of Discord servers with all sorts of topics. A few people on those servers told me they identified as gender-fluid (I think that's what they said, please correct me if I'm wrong, I do not trust google on those terms since it's full of sensationalistic clickbait...). Now, whenever one wanted to adress those people (who were mods on that server, of course...), one had to look up the pronouns they wished to be used for that very moment. I once got a temp ban because one person changed this mid-conversation and expected the rest of the community to follow suit. No matter how trans you are, you are just not important enough to me to dedicate the time of my life neccessary to accomodate that specific rule you want me to follow, sorry. Now I do get that this is mostly a desperate attempt to for once hold some power over people instead of being the victim all the time, but weaponizing people's compassion is something that tends to leave scorched earth behind. Think about it: The only people you can get with that are those who actually try to be inclusive towards you, so you are powertripping on the wrong people, mate!

I completely and thoroughly get your point. I personally have never understood this either. So people notice that they don't fit into arbitrary and frankly bullshit boxes, so they counter that not by working towards getting rid of the boxes alltogether, but by inventing even more arbitrarily defined boxes.
This difference in approaches to the same problem ("getting rid of the boxes because they are of no use" versus "define more boxes so everyone has one they can fit into") is something that leads to sooo much misunderstandings and contempt on all sides I think. Someone saying "Sex is just a purely anatomical thing and everything else is made-up BS that's to be gotten rid of" isn't neccessarily really anti-trans, but will feel anti-trans to a trans-person. They can still be pro you being however you want to be, they could just not understand the additional segmentation the trans-community pushes forward.
I for example reject gender-roles and attributes assigned to genders and all that BS completely. You can be however the fuck you want to be in my book, "gender" just is not a concept that has any meaning to me whatsoever. I legitimately do not understand debates about which bathroom to use or something like that. All people are equals and equally entitled to the same exact treatment. That means that I do not understand anyone who is against the Trans-Community because... wtf? Let people be as they want to be, what's it to you for fuck's sake? I do not give a flying toss if I conform to what whoever might think my gender (male) should be like because I think that's antiquated as fuck. I don't want my wife to be "womanlike" either. I want her to be herself, that's it.
Yet, this stance has had me on the receiving end of weird transphobe-accusations at times because I oppose the "box-building" with even more segmentations and rules, and flags and even more divisions and so on and so forth as well. Just do away with the fucking boxes. I imagine the identity of us humans like one of that play-slime-things we had as kids. Put it in a box and it will sort-of conform to that box, even better if that box fits it's size. But wouldn't it be way nicer if we all could just blop around boxless and flow wherever we want to flow?
so what the fuck do you think you're doing?
