Proteins are quirky... In a bad way

No, it's not just "a matter of time". While there are loads of pathogens that jumped to humans they were originally incompatible with, there are.myriads more that didn't and likely never will. The jump to humans is not a given.

Since all the."but you can disable this", "just switch to Linux that" posts are already going strong, I'd like to remind everyone that many, many of those devices will be from businesses and are on some sort of leasing agreement. Since.the business needs to safeguard itself against IT fault related costs, they will not circumvent TPM, not because there would be anything wrong with doing that, but because they do not want to provide a target for insurers and lawsuits when they use their PCs in "an unsupported configuration". Businesses see their PCs very differently than private ppl do and "just switch to Linux" will be so much more expensive that they will not do that. They'll just get delivered new stuff from their leasing partner and that'll be that.

Thing is: They are working from the basis of media that has been successful already. So the amount of "dumbing down" neccessary to achieve a somewhat broad appeal has already been done by the author of the original, so to speak. Their argument doesn't hold any water whatsoever on no level imaginable.

We've seen this with the Witcher, we've seen it with GoT, we've seen it with LOTR: super artistic production teams which have their heads so deep up their own arses and are entrenched so deeply inside that weird removed-from-reality Hollywood bubble that they legitimately think they know better how to interpret the lore some world renowned author made than the author himself. Always ends in mediocre showsand hilarious interviews with said production teams where

a) everybody is wrong but them
b) bUt OuR vIsIoN

The mother in the story warns her boy about the tailor cutting thumbs off of thumb suckers and when the child doesn't listen and the mother is away, said tailor just barges in, so there is an argument for it being a mythical tailor, but an argument for it being just your regular ass tailor as well.

Okay, how are we all seeing some moral downfall of Steve Jobs here? I mean... Perhaps we should just see what's shown at such events realistically. I mean, who wouldn't show their product from the best side possible? So they faked some reception. Of course they want younto see the "optimal case", right? Same goes for swapping Devices in case of some failure. When they show their device, they want to show what it will be like, so they will not let you see a ton of bugs that are about to be fixed for the release anyway.

Besides: they cannot deceptively, promise you fake stuff and people will be lead into erroneous decisions by them. Quite the opposite. Think about it: anyone who actually watches those presentations is not your standard customer, right? They'll be invested or knowledgeable anyway. So if they promise you utter bullshit, people will notice your lies immediately. Tests will chide you for it, people will distrust you, sales will go down. So don't assume that any beautification of the product at such presentations will lead poor, uninformed customers to buy the thing. Quite the opposite. They will more likely not hear too much about the presentation until the "they lied!" Cries start.

Noticed it stopped working yesterday, wasnt at home so I couldn't really get into it, just checked the docker logs via portainer on the go and was like "wtf is this error?!" Was relieved when I learned what the issue was and that it's just a restructuring of the containers.

While it can be unnerving that they don't shy away from breaking things in order to improve the service, it's actually a very good thing and keeps the app from getting bogged down in some "but backwards compatibility"legacy code hell (wonder what some people in Redmond would know about that). Let's just hope that they never publish an update that permanently breaks things when you haven't followed a very strict weird update procedure or something.
