  • No, because snow is nice and beautiful. The problem is, we don't get a white christmas (or have snow for most of the winter) every year, because where I live we mostly either get wet warm winds which lead to rain or we get cold dry winds which just lead to cold days without snow.

  • Yes, there are other EVs available that are also reasonably priced. I just wanted to say that the Model 3 doesn't have dogshit value like the commenter I responded to claimed.

When my car gets too old I will get an EV and it will certainly not be a Tesla, but that has more to do with the company behind the car than the car itself in my case.

  • I don't like Teslas either due to Musk, the touchscreens, the build quality and their anti self repair antics.

But the model 3 is very reasonably priced for what it is.

And just because something weighs more doesn't mean that the stopping distance is longer, because more weight means the tires are pressed onto the road harder, which means more grip.

  • Yes, but also no. The GDR and the Soviet Union who supported it and supplied it were both almost bankrupt and economically broken. Infrastructure was falling apart because the state couldn't afford to fix it.

The potests sure helped, but the government of the GDR was also in a state where it would accept the demands as a way out. The protests probably did accelerate the downfall a bit, but it would have happened either way.

Similar protests years before were leading nowhere.

  • Yup, it was debian. I think I tried adding another repo, but gave up before I got it to work. I didn't try to just download the file, because I had done that before and all I could do is extract whatever is inside the file, but not install it.

It was around 2 years ago, maybe Linux has gotten that much more user friendly in the last two years, but I doubt it.

  • I just wanted to install steam, but it wasn't in the package manager list.

Then I tried apt-get and that didnt work, I forgot why.

You don't have to do seriously advanced stuff on linux to run into issues without using the terminal.

My point was, even if you actually do some advanced stuff on windows you still don't have to use the terminal.

It's not realistic that you don't have to use the terminal on linux if you want to do any more than web browsing and some text editing, etc.

That doesn't mean that linux is bad, but let's be realistic about what it is.

  • Germany was doing pretty bad economically after the first world war and especially after the great depression. Lots of people had no jobs and couldn't afford anything.

Wages of the average worker aren't keeping track with inflation right now, so that's what would have to be changed to have any chance at stopping this.

Russia also needs to stop trying to destabilise the western world.

  • The difference with all those other tools is that you are always there when it runs. You are not there when the robot lawnmower is running and some cat jumps your fence, which is why it should not harm the cat.

You are kind of correct that the rpm of the robot mower blades are faster, but the blades are much lighter and most mowers even have swiveling blades that are only held straight by the centrifugal force, so they will just swivel away when they hit something.

The blades are not much more than razor blades that are mounted on a plastic disc with one screw each. You wouldn't want to put your hand into the spinning blade, which is very hard to do anyway, but there is just not enough power to throw rocks with any significant force.

I would be able to put my finger in the way of the blades if they were completely blunt and I would not get hurt very much if at all, doing the same thing on a normal mower would be a very different story.

  • Lawnmower robots have much smaller blades with less inertia. I don't doubt a direct hit would hurt, but rocks just won't get thrown very fast by it. A direct hit would also be pretty hard to achieve because the skirt stops anything big from getting under the robot and the blades stop immediately when it gets lifted up.

Just imagine how many lawsuits the manufacturers would have to deal with if these things were only slightly unsafe.

  • Nothing you said inferred credibility unto Russian sources, I just wanted to add my take on the bigger picture.

Which is, that Ukrainian reporting is probably not 100% correct and there probably are inflations somewhere (like you said), it is still bound to reality, while Russian reporting lost its touch with reality on day one.

I guess its a knee jerk reaction to all the tankies defending russia lol

  • At least what Ukraine is claiming is somewhat based in reality compared to what russia claims.

According to russian sources, russia has destroyed some vehicle and plane types in higher numbers than ukraine ever had, yet Ukraine still has some.

    Weird how that works.
