  • "Can't easily go to Jerusalem" is only one part of the article, and that aside it's an egregious attack on Palestinian freedom of movement so not really overdramatic. Israel has been doing much flashier things lately so I get your instinct to dismiss this, but this attitude is part of why Israel has gotten away with its crimes for so long; the world only pays attention to the plight of Palestinians when they're being blown to bits by Israeli airstrikes and then forgets about them when the planes (mostly) stop flying. This article does a good job of highlighting the quieter parts of Israeli oppression IMO.

  • An ethnostate is a state made explicitly for one ethnicity that prioritizes that ethnicity over others. The most glaring examples of this are Israel and Apartheid South Africa, but it's a thing to a much smaller extent in Japan for example. Also note that most European countries do in fact have plenty of native ethnicities; they all just happen to be white. The most obvious example is probably Jews, but there are many others.

  • .ml is notorious for arbitrary bans so I wouldn't think too much about it. There are active alternatives for most (but probably not all) communities hosted there. Criticizing Russia there is also a great way to get in trouble with the admins because they're explicitly tankies.

  • It seems 23% of boys aged 13-15 have a positive opinion of him, as opposed to 53% who have a negative opinion. That's a majority who hate him to be sure, but not an overwhelming majority. Also note that support for Andrew Tate is higher among young adults than teenagers who haven't even entered highschool. 27% of British men aged 18-29 have a positive view of Andrew Tates, while 35% agree with "the sort of thing Andrew Tates would say". He's liked by a significant minority of his major audience (male teenagers and young/young-ish adults).

  • Some minor pedantry:

In political science, the term banana republic describes a politically and economically unstable country with an economy dependent upon the export of natural resources.

-Wikipedia. El Salvador and America aren't banana republics; they're republics that are bananas.

  • When you have Farage gaining support every day by running on a populist agenda you need someone to counter him.

Note that he needs to be countered with an economic populist (read: at least center-left) agenda. They need to actually do things for the people first. Rightwing demagogues don't have that problem because their followers axiomatically think bigotry is good, but you wanna replicate that on the left you'll need the Bernie version, not the Trump version.

  • The Ottoman Empire did the same as the west for years,

The Ottoman Empire did what to who again? Screw them for other reasons, but that's a complete false equivalence. And yes, I know about the Armenian genocide; that happened during their last few years when they were ruled by the very much secular Young Turks.

I think that is what the U.S. fears.

The US fears nothing other than expensive oil and Egypt exercising its sovereignty over the Suez Canal. Don't make this about religion when the bombs falling on people's heads are all "secular".
