The English word "four" has 4 letters. Are there any other numbers where the English name for them has that many letters?

  • Uh, that’s essentially what my first comment is saying… that’s why I assumed the poster was from over in the US - the rest of the world ain’t really like that. The vast majority of gun owners across the world are normal people; who just happen to own guns, amongst other possessions.

  • I’m gonna go out on a limb here and guess you live in the US - well, I sure hope you do.

    In the US I believe that guns are like pick-up trucks: far more people own them to plug gaps in their personality than the number of people who own them because they need their utility.

    My personal view - and a generally held one - is that guns are a tool and to fetishise a tool is… weird; and suggests to me a troubled mind.

  • I’m not sure where you live but my iPhone (bnib) cost me less than half a US dollar a day to purchase - and it’s only getting cheaper. I average about seven hours screen time a day and run everything through the handset. (Navigation, streaming, payments, hot-spotting, tickets, translation etc.). For what I get out of it it has to be one of the cheapest things I’ve ever bought…

  • Punishment, rehabilitation and removing someone from public life due to the danger they represent are the three most common reasons to imprison where I live.

    The end products would be: society getting its “pound of flesh”, a better educated and matured person upon release and the protecting of the public from dangerous individuals.

    (In practice though, most of our prisons are just universities of crime)

  • No. I’m sorry, you are wrong. Both spellings are equally valid. In English-speaking newsrooms across the globe either spelling is acceptable.

  • Both spellings are correct and do not impact the meaning. “Lede” has only this one meaning whilst “Lead” can mean a few different things.
