  • We're in a two storey house, each storey being 110m2. But the first floor is made of Concrete Blocks, and unfortunately the Fibre comes in through one corner of the house, and her computer is on the diagonal opposite corner of the house.

I believe she currently dabbles in a bit of LoL and mostly Lost Ark.

  • I guess the other option would be to get a cheaper Mesh system for wifi coverage, but have a Powerline for my partner for her gaming, but reading up on some things online, not too sure about their performance either.

  • Yeah, unfortunately it would be quite a big job to get everything wired in. My partner games a bit, but nothing crazy, and probably the most intensive thing I do is live stream sports.

It is my understanding that using "Tri Band" Mesh systems would help with stability and latency? Would that be correct?, or is there no real difference from that front, and the Tri vs Dual is more around bandwidth.

  • Looking to get a new WiFi Mesh system, and debating between a few options. Would love to hear some feedback/thoughts from people around them.

Currently been looking at the Netgear Orbi RBK760S, Orbi RBK852 or TP-Link Deco XE75.

We'll be on just normal fibre. Could potentially upgrade to Gigabit Fibre in the near future, but I don't see us going for Hyperfibre anytime soon.

  • I personally enjoy doing DIY projects, and it's got the added benefit of (hopefully!) saving money compared to buying off the shelf.

Got some plans to spruce up a little outside canopy area at our place, and am planning to make some DIY furniture for it. It's great in that you still sort of get what you wanted, but at a cheaper cost, and you get to enjoy making it too.

  • Yeah, that's the reason I was looking at the Aniwell FiltaClear, but seems I've managed to find another brand that does Titanium rather than Zinc - DR Zoo Natural Zinc Free Sun Cream for anyone that's interested.

I wonder what the difference is from human sunscreen

Haven't really looked into the difference yet. Maybe something I should look into

  • Got a little bit of a headcold, though it doesn't seem to be anything too major.

Was planning to plant a few vege seedlings in the garden tomorrow, but it seems it's going to be a pretty wet weekend up here in Akl.

  • Somewhat related, but not really - Had our first watercare bill come through, and its 0. Apparently the previous reading was an actual reading, and so was this one, and the start and end readings are the same - Anyone with some experience with something like this?

I did read that you get "0" bills when they have previously estimated too high, but a bit stumped as the bill says the starting reading was an actual reading too.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the house was sitting empty for a while before we moved in? (as in probably >6 months).

  • Doing a bit of reading online, it seems that cats could potentially get Zinc poisoning if they get too much of it?, which is curious to me, as most of the pet sunscreens you see advertise that they have Zinc in them.

The other option seems to be Titanium Dioxide which apparently isn't as toxic? 🤷‍♂️

  • Just totally random, but I suddenly thought of when they first introduced hybrid power into F1, and kept it quite open for the manufacturers to come up with their own solution, and at least one team (from memory) tested flywheels.

Wondered if someones done a residential scale flywheel, and it seems like there's been at least some research into it.
