  • oh no I love all the games. i know there's a lot of "Origins purists" that love to trash talk any game in the franchise that isn't origins, but most of us love all the games. for different reasons.

i sincerely hope you have branched out to other games that were more like Origins in the years since it's been out. and I hope you've found ones you like.

  • thanks! i love the whole franchise. dreck included! I'll gladly take it. =)

  • exactly this. i have a filter on certain keywords. his name is in there but there's nothing I can do to avoid posts about the platform.

    it's super irritating.

  • i have this game in my steam library but i use a steam deck and I was told the functionality wasn't great for controllers.

maybe if it's got better I can try again. thank you for the recommendation.

  • oh

  • the vending machine would be interesting for sure. i just hope it will be worth the length and cost of the development of this tech.

  • the HUD is what i initially thought, but in that scenario they'd need the screen to be a decent window as well.

but yeah as you said it would have to be functional as both. and I don't see that happening.

i do wonder how often a technology is developed with vigor only to not sell well. i kinda see that happening in the future with this. which sucks because these have been in development for years.

  • this is a fascinating article as it goes into heavy detail about both techs and how they work.

but this did make me facepalm a bit:

"That’s why the transparent OLED TV LG demonstrated at CES 2024 included a “contrast layer”—basically, a black cloth—that unrolls and covers the back of the display on demand."

I'm not sure I can think of many practical applications for these devices.

  • well, are you a plump and adorable seal?

  • you're welcome. i hate paywalls and I thought it was an interesting read.
