I feel it. Most of the stuff I care about is random projects of mine, most of which are on github. The biggest downside of me losing my local files is honestly just significant, but not insurmountable inconvenience.
That's kind of the point. Financial capability is what leads this divergence. Those who have wealth take their wealth with them, leaving the state they come from further impoverished.
The discussion is not about equity or equality (which is what I believe your comment is pointing to), but instead looking at why this divergence potentially occurs.
Random tangent, my dad edited the system file that contained that message to "It's not safe to turn off your computer" when I was like 5 and it kinda fucked me up for a bit.
Just look to one of the biggest "small government" states, Texas. They're becoming an absolute nanny state pushing so many stupid regulations in the name of "Oh won't someone please think of the children!"
