Fuck yeah! I don't even live in Florida or Texas but I would give anything to be even farther away from their braindead approach to governance.

And the "nothing" it sounds like you'd vote for wouldn't even punish the father! You'd rather have a kid die for nothing? Or would you rather we took the gun away? Are you saying that the only thing that actually works? Then we might agree on something.

Truth social, last I checked, required a phone number and they're almost exclusively made up of spam.

There are people in my family that would hear this and agree 100%. They think Musk is changing the world too and they will vote for Trump a third time.

Sadly I think that might be the only way to make it stop. But it doesn't feel right. If a waiter/waitress is getting a zero dollar paycheck, that means they're making more than some minimum amount. If we stop tipping, they'll be paid that minimum amount. In our effort to get service jobs fairly paid, should we punish them by paying them less first?

Light switches are a bad example. Up doesn't mean on and down doesn't mean off when you have multiple switches for the same thing.

These switches visibly have 2 states and switching it means you want the other one. In tech it's less obvious that there are only two states and that toggling the button will do something in particular. Recall the play and pause button on your media app. That button could change the state in any number of ways but in order to convey to the user what will happen BEFORE the button is pressed, the player shows what action will take place.

You're already in the current state, that rarely adds info. Toggles should indicate what they will do.

Go is a very opinionated language which is why I was so lucky for their opinion on this (and other things) to agree with mine.

It's a dark pattern. Maybe at one point in time people would be tricked into believing $3.99 was emotionally a lot less than $4 but we've grown up with it now for several generations. Everyone knows it costs more anyway because of taxes not being applied until the register. The mistrust is built into the system out of tradition more than anything.

I agree with a comment I once saw in this community that including the punchline in the title, rather than the body, is the equivalent of getting the timing wrong when telling the joke.

What about processes that terminate before writing the whole thing? You can't protect against everything. Blame other processes all you want but the language spec allows for confusion.

TOML and YAML both have the problem that if you receive an incomplete document, there's a decent chance you can't tell. JSON doesn't have that because of the closing curly.
