Really sorry to read that. Reminds me of a similar situation I've been going through lately, only it went the opposite way. Life used to be great before COVID, then went down the drain during it. From there it's been going better for a while, then worse, then better again and so on. I have a feeling this is just how life is supposed to go.
Anyway, best of luck for your moving endeavors. Say hi to those kitties for me!
Just so you know, since you posted a PCM, we have opened a PCM community on Lemmy !pcm@lemmy.basedcount.com ran by the same mod team that we had on Reddit.
Honestly? Yes. I don't think I share any of the far leftist ideas the Lemmy devs seem to have but you gotta recognize their worth.
Yes, they built this place for freedom of speech. Despite the devs being communists you could easily spin up your own instance and gather there fascists or anarchists or whoever you feel like. Hell it's all open source, you can even fork it an add any feature you like. The software might not be too robust, but this platform really is great and we should recognize it for what it is.
While I am from a Western country it's indeed not the US.
No, in my country nothing of that sorts happens. Piracy is still technically illegal but only a misdemeanor for the end user, provided they don't make any money off the pirated stuff, and no ISP has ever cared to narc about it, to my knowledge.
Of course it's probably different for crackers and folks who run piracy oriented forums.
Yeah I did mean "jumping ship" to a different provider, assuming they didn't all behave like this. And of course I just assumed there were more than one to choose from.
Nasty stuff. VPNs really look like a blessing, from this perspective.
I know it shifted from a subscription model to a paid DLC one. Do you actually need to buy some DLCs to get an enjoyable experience out of this? Do you only need the endgame stuff once you get there, like buying the latest WoW expansion? How does this model actually work for chill players?
What's funny is that this is exactly what I feel like any time I have to use Linux.
