  • Everyone who is so sure Biden won't do something... For the first time ever, Biden's life is at stake due to politics. Dude has never needed an abortion. Or food stamps. But he and his family will be dead in 12 months if he doesn't have a contingency plan.

  • Yes. They won't work because they operate on a difference in air pressure providing a force. No air? No force. Same reason an airplane wing won't provide lift in the upper atmosphere.

But, compare to a rocket engine that does NOT need an atmosphere to push against.

  • I looked into using this type of service to pay for a modest purchase. A luxury of sorts. Something I had the cash for, but felt weird about paying all $600 or so for. I thought, maybe an interest free loan would be cool?

So i start to pay for the thing with klarna or whatever. And I see it's only a six week loan. Wait, my credit card is a free six week loan (give or take). Wtf. I'd have to pay the thing off faster than just using a credit card.

I talked myself out of buying whatever it was.

  • It's probably true, in some contexts.

If you are a foreign government? Or internal powers wanting to enact an authoritarian and religious regime that hurts the peoples it's trying to convince? Then probably not. Educated people are going to be harder to turn against their own interests.

    A DoD high school?

  • I remember in Christian fundamentalist circles after 9/11 remarking they might not be ready to die for their faiths like terrorists are. Not the best introspection to be doing, I don't think.

Obviously, even among the truly devout, humans have innate urges to stay alive. Fear of death is often one of the last steps in any faith. After life and fear of death is also one of the bigger preoccupations with many faiths. It's the big unknown.

Everyone has to die and no one is ever truly ready.
