  • Not sure what the link is for, I’m fine with people using it in their own life and media. But using it referring to me or in reference to lesbians makes my skin crawl as someone who used to be called that by homophobic teenagers

  • I’m personally kind of reminded of how “faggot” and “dyke” are being “taken back” and used jokingly/sarcastically, but I still get really uncomfortable if someone uses them with me. They’ll say “oh I don’t mean it offensively!” But it’s not really up to you to decide what’s offending another person or not.

  • And if they’re into politics, it will be a bubble as well. Not even left/right. It’s a bubble of your specific flavor of politics/humor. Because also political discussion and humor go hand in hand now at all times, apparently.

  • The plastic and other bullshit the FDA allows in our food is definitely why colon cancer rates are skyrocketing in the US as well. Ask anyone who has spent extended time in Europe how their digestion differed when there versus the US. Almost everyone has a hard time adjusting to our diet because it’s so shitty and toxic. I wish I could eat food without doing a million hours of research into what’s in it because the FDA doesn’t do it.

  • The idea that most other countries are either extremely strange or extremely poverty-stricken is definitely a very intentional form of propaganda we get fed in the US. People are shocked when I tell them they can get cheaper, safer, better medical care in Mexico pretty often. Mostly for cosmetic surgeries, but they act like all hospitals in Mexico are run down death factories.

  • Every day you hear someone say the stupidest shit you’ve ever heard in your life. And then the next day someone says something even dumber. It’s absolute hell on earth but the plus side is my mortgage is cheap as dirt I guess.

  • The bots would pretend to be black in order to say “as a black man, I don’t like BLM” or pretend to be a male rape victim so they could say “the experience wasn’t as traumatic as some would say”. How the fuck do they reconcile this as ethical? They’re actively arguing with real people and acting like it’s all just random data. Social scientists once again de-humanizing their subjects, I guess

  • It was reviewed by an ethics board, but they changed the parameters of their study (shifting more towards using personal info against commenters/making up personal info to use in arguments) without it being approved by the ethics board. Essentially their study wasn’t going anywhere so they made it more unethical in order to have more data to work with. They’re on Reddit trying to defend themselves but no one is having it

  • I do think there is something to be said about what is allowed in American food but outright banned everywhere else. There’s a reason we have more colon cancer and gastrointestinal problems among our citizens, and it’s not just because we overeat. Anyone who goes to Europe notices how much better they feel after eating their food consistently, and how much worse they feel when they come back to the US
