I strongly disagree with you on that. Israel has a right to self defense. While the means might not be adequately / appropriately humane, saying they're the same is like saying thw US are the same as the Nazis for bombing Dresden.

One is the aggressor, the other is not. We can gladly diacuss the means (again, fuck metanyahu and his seemingly complete disregard fpr human life) but that doesn't change the fact tht one side wanted a war and the other was forced into it.

Plus the fact that wiping out Hamas will create an opportunity for lasting peace between Israel and Palestine (whether united or split into gaza and westjordanland) while not wiping it out will just make history repeat (or rhime) itself in a few years/decade(s)

The problem is that for some instances there's no alternative to lemmy.ml
