Ooh, I did guess wrong! That is an interesting specimen.
My suspicion is that they are experts in ergonomics, not in electrical engineering, so they probably aren't aware of how silly and possibly dangerous what they did is. Or perhaps they simply don't care because "it gets the job done", standards and specifications be damned.
Anyway, in this case I'm happy to be proven wrong. Thanks.
It makes sense, if I remember correctly the older USB cable (i.e. everything before Type-C) are passive, so as long as the pins are wired symmetrically it wouldn't matter which side is which. But whoever made your keyboard really blundered, there is no reason in the world why anyone would do this. There's so many options: the B connector, mini USB, micro USB. All would make sense to put in the keyboard. A just doesn't.
Let me guess: you got it from an ultra cheap online store? AliExpress/Wish/Temu?
I think the biggest problem I see with A to A is: who's delivering power, and who's receiving it? Maybe if you use it only with the device it came with then it'll be fine, but if anyone tries to just hook up that cable to two random computers, it might actually cause a short circuit and fry something.
Whereas Type-C was explicitly made to handle such situations.
Or a shorter reason: Type-C cable is allowed by the spec while Type-A is not.
I had to look it up. If you search Lamarck you find the guy, but the wikipedia page is massive. But searching 'Lamarck theory' brings up https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamarckism . TL;DR: inheritance of acquired characteristics.
Came here to mention exactly this. It doesn't sound too crazy, and would really help bring servers and communities to the where the users are and vice versa, with a bunch of extra benefits.
For example, right now !programmerhumor@lemmy.ml and !programmer_humor@programming.dev (and a bunch of others, but there are biggest I think) are basically the same thing, with many posts being posted to both simultaneously. If you subscribe to just one, you might miss half the community, but if you subscribe to both then you see duplicate posts in your feed, and the comments sections are separate causing less interactions and less fun.
I assume that both communities' mod teams are aware of this issue, so would be happy to make the consolidate the communities into one if given the option, essentially mirroring each other. The nuances of how it all works - especially from a moderation perspective - is tricky but entirely possible to solve.
On November 29th, 2023, Rainbolt posted a video to Instagram (and also to TikTok) walking viewers through his process to discover the exact location where the meme image of Anthony Adams rubbing his hands behind the tree was taken. The post received almost 1.2 million likes over the course of a day and a half (seen below).[10] The video established that the location of the meme was the Daniel Wright Woods Forest Preserve in Illinois, USA.
yeah I was thinking, is it the one with a random sequence of letters, digits and maybe even symbols that I vaguely remember existed at one point? But I still do not care.
When saying the name of a trans person, it's when you use their previous name from before their transition. E.g. saying Ellen Page instead of Elliot Page.
Presumably it can also mean just calling someone by their previous name that they prefer to leave behind, even if not trans.
I have no idea who Musk's child is and no desire to look it up.
Seek refuge inside on a higher floor. Make sure you always have an exit route – don't get trapped in an attic with no windows, for example. If the water looks to engulf the house/property, get on the roof if you can and signal for help.
Don't buy electronics through amazon. This is precisely why.
