  • Lemmy is still small enough that you may just be getting lucky with everyone behaving themselves. If no one is reporting anything, just try to stay in-the-loop with the general goings on in the community so you can jump in if something does happen.

  • Honestly, I think the cost of data storage and bandwidth would easily be the biggest hurdle. Video takes up loads more space than text or even images, so I'm not sure if it would be feasible for any volunteer entity to support unlimited free video uploading.

  • If having them all raise/lower the same is unrealistic, maybe you could make a script that starts each one moving with a delay to create a staggered effect? It would still look visually pleasant IMO without the difficulty of syncing up different motors.

  • While Bernie very well may not have won regardless, the whole superdelegates bullshit turned off a LOT of voters because it appeared that the DNC was overriding the will of the voters. Had they just left things alone, Clinton likely would have gotten the nomination anyway without leaving a huge voter bloc feeling bitter and resentful.

  • That's a good question. That guide is specifically for a Chromecast, but maybe casting to another type of device works different, I'm not too familiar with the protocol. Definitely agree that just testing it out to see what happens is the best route

  • It looks like setting up casting is possible, but a giant pain in the ass according to this guide. I would see if your TV has a Jellyfin app (they have apps for Android TV, FireTV, LG WebOS, and Apple TV), otherwise you might need to just buy a cheap Roku.

In terms of watching outside your house, that will probably be difficult. Because we ran out of IP addresses, most ISPs use NAT which basically bundles a bunch of different users behind a single IP address, making port-forwarding impossible unless you pay extra for a static IP. You'll have to figure out whether this is the case for Cox.

  • Probably not. The problem with catching feral cats is that it creates a territorial vaccum, causing feral cats from neighboring areas to just move in to the now-empty territory. Those cats were neutered, meaning they couldnt reproduce and contribute to the population, but now there's a good chance that non-neutered cats will move in and create even more cats and just make the problem bigger.

  • Sure, in the same way Android is a subset of Linux. Their appeal and use-cases are completely different, and in no way are GNU/Linux and ChromeOS practically interchangeable.

That's like saying ketchup is a fruit because it's made with tomatoes.

  • As someone who grew up in a house that was definitely too small for a 4-person family, it makes keeping the house decluttered a lot more difficult because there's just not space to put things away. And god forbid you aquire NEW things, because then you have to shuffle everything around to make a place for it or it just ends up laying around.
