It's been a mainstream talking point in conservative circles for a bit that climate change is real, but:
a) Us doing something won't change anything until China and/or India also start doing something with us
b) If we started doing something, the cost would weaken us economically until China can overtake us and start influencing the world to the west's detriment
Both of which are wrong, but it doesn't stop conservatives from believing the talking heads. A lot of people can't outright deny global warming anymore so they're just shifting the blame now
The beauty of the bible is that it contradicts itself all throughout the OT and NT, so adherents can point to some random excerpt for basically any stance they want to take
Would it solve any problems though? Unless they're set up to catch him in the act of trying to flee, he flees to a country that doesn't extradite to the US, his supporters become even more incensed than they already are, and the GOP gets an out for whoever they pick as their candidate for the 2024 election since they'd no longer have to fight trump. The con base is now solidified under a single candidate after the primaries, and they're galvanized against "the deep state liberal socialist commies".
The alternative is trump staying, causing further damage to the GOP as he splits the conservative voterbase between his populism and typical republican politicians, and likely gets convicted of multiple felonies. Imo, him leaving just let's the problem fester, while him staying likely splits the conservative vote
Wanting Trump to face consequences for breaking the law does not mean I think others shouldn't face consequences for breaking other laws, that's the dumbest argument I've heard in a while. Liberals and those further left regularly say that when democrats break the law, they should be punished. I've only seen conservatives bitch and moan when their politicians break the law, like democracy is a team sport.
There's very likely written and audio correspondence damning Trump in these indictments. We'll see for sure when the trial starts.
You conflating all sworn testimony with hearsay makes me think you don't actually know what those words mean.
But sure, Cleetus, we only hate breaking the law when republicans do it. $100% 👌
Not even his supporters today knew if they were going to vote for him back then.
This is completely false, I have no idea where you're getting this idea. Trump was extremely popular with conservatives in the 2016 election, and conservative voters are famous for toeing the party line even when they don't like the candidate, so even if they didn't like him they all knew they'd still be voting for him. There was absolutely no question at all on if his supporters were going to vote for him
Looooot of people are emotionally invested in the idea of karma/people eventually getting what they deserve. It's really uncomfortable for them to be told that the real world is littered with narcissists and assholes who live a full and fulfilling life, never seeing true consequences for their actions
There's nothing to be careful about, it's absolutely true. Democracy isn't flawless and is capable of leading to demagogues and reality-denying lunatics coming to power precisely because humans aren't rational actors. But just because democracy isn't perfect doesn't mean it's worse than the other systems we've come up with.
You can be mad at it but what they said is largely true. Not having the data backed up somewhere and expecting everything to be perfectly fine forever is like not having old photos backed up somewhere and expecting everything to be perfectly fine forever.
It's even more egregious here because if OP can afford a 3TB SSD, they should be able to afford a 3+TB HDD as a backup no problem. The money isn't an issue for OP, just improper knowledge of how to handle data storage. It isn't necessarily their fault this happened since the average person isn't given this info, but at its core, "pay more money" because you need backups is the only true answer
Trump is their golden calf. It's been in the making for decades, but it's finally here for them
