  • "It's easy with tool that requires extensive knowledge. Do it with another tool that requires extensive knowledge and it's even easier."

You just showed everyone the elitism I was talking about, thank you.

  • There are too many in the Linux dev community who cling to their old concepts, even if they are objectively worse. Hell, 99% of distros still don't even come with disaster recovery preconfigured; OpenSuse are the only ones I know where you don't need to be a professional to revert back to a working state in case something broke. This conservatism as well as elitism (nobody needs the new stuff if everyone just gets good and becomes a CLI magician, right?) in the community is holding us back horribly, and it shows.

  • Mmh, I see. This might be either a difference in language or culture then. 🤔 In german it would not just be very rude to call someone paranoid, it's also definitely rhetorically linked to a state of mental illness (basically telling them they're fucked in the head / crazy). At least where I'm coming from.

  • Please don't misuse the term 'paranoid' like that. It's a medical term for a serious condition and we really don't need to start labeling ourselves like that, others already do that for us way too often.

  • Someone who even it broke couldn't fix it because it's an Apple.

  • This is just creepy, wtf…

  • No, it's real. It was an art installation at the Tesla Factory Berlin.

  • I subscribe to anything you said, except obviously the last sentence. 😅 If there is new information I'm always open to it, as long as it doesn't come from obviously bad sources. I'm just fed up with people simping for the picture the chinese propaganda paints as they grow tired of the US propaganda. It's so stupid and unnecessary, and I saw your post as one of those. Apologies if it wasn't meant that way.

Chinese people do suffer from economical hardship as well, it's just badly documented and the problems are different but comparably awful.

  • Now if we could just get rid of all those power-hungry dicks who keep poisoning the human spirit, let it be with Capitalism, Maoism, Neoliberalism and whatnot…

Thing is, the concern about RedNote is completely valid. Even if you strip away any overarching US propaganda or whatever, we know that the CCP does really, really shitty things as well and take heavy, manipulative influence (yes yes, the US and its defacto Feudal Lords owning Meta etc. do so too).

I'm just angry people won't take their time to look into this whole topic and go with more propaganda-resistant, federated alternatives. Not perfect, but better than a centralized service that can be influenced by either China or the US. Or Russia… or literally anyone. So that we can, in the end, just dance to some nice human music.

  • Are you high or sth? The chinese are getting as much extorted as you do, the system of it just differs. Chona got a huge homelessness problem they try to hide from their own people (because officially homelessness was "eradicated" years ago according to propaganda). The worker extortion is brutal and child labour a big problem as well. However, you won't see anything outspokenly crticial about those systemic problems im China on RedNote or sth., their deletion and suppression algorithms are extremely well tuned. Also they got stuff like neighborhood watch and other means of systemic social suppression who'll be alerted of "problematic people" if you post (too much) criticism. Or of course police, in case you really annoy them or happen to be the wrong ethnicity.

  • Instead they'll become curiosities leading down rabbit holes to understand why and how they happened.

  • Looks like Mufasa though.

  • What's the red one? I've seen that icon multiple times by now.

  • Yes, chromosomes are meaningless to who someone is (except edge-cases).

No, sex and gender aren't the same.

  • This is heartbreaking. I can't even imagine how awful it must've been for you during that time, not knowing if surviving was even worth it (in a broader sense).

Thinking back, if I would've had to think about that too during my chemotherapy 8 years ago (was 24 back then) I don't know if I would've survived. That, or I would've become a criminal afterwards as I was still fighting with trauma as well; it would've probably pushed me over the line of being convinced the world was inherently evil.

It's good you found something to distract you from all that suffering and happened to be put in such a great, great hospital. Hope you found back to full health.

  • That's a chromosome you encoded there which is one of a few markers that define sex, not gender.

  • Almost like society depends on every right being limited, so they do not come in conflict with the rights of others. Literally the most basic concept to understand, OP is just ragebaiting or an actual idiot.

Lovely username btw. You should get a doctor. 💀

  • Nope, people just ain't forced to accept your bullshit. Your rights only end where the rights of others begin, that's how a peaceful society works.

If you don't understand this simple concept that's a you problem.
