  • Unfortunately this doesn't work in practice. Sporadic murders of high profile politicians end up causing a lot of fear and galvanizing public sentiment towards tough-on-crime and other fascist leaders. A wide-scale revolution is almost always co-opted by a strong, militant group that seeks to establish an autocracy afterwards. Often they are bankrolling the revolution. And if they don't exist at the time of revolution, it is inevitable they pop up to seize control afterwards

so then wth are we supposed to do to fight against the descent into fascism?

  • no, I intended to reply to you, but perhaps I should have quoted vector in my response. i was wanting to expand on your answer, to add that it's a misconception of conservatives that people vote for their own interests.

I guess perhaps it could have worked better as a direct reply to vector.

  • righties want women to have fewer rights when alive than when they die.

did you know, you can't take the organs from a deceased person without that person's explicit permission, prior to their death? not even to save the life of an unborn foetus that some broad is being forced to carry to term.

  • out of curiosity, did you use a bot to write this? something about the frequency with which you use their username to refer to them stood out to me.

if that's not the case, I wonder why it is that using a proper name instead of a pronoun or stand-in reference jumps out to me as unnatural...

  • I think this is honestly a conservative misconception. i very recently considered voting for our Maori party here in the latest elections, all that stopped me was some recent controversy that called the party leader's integrity into question. but still, I would relish the country's minorities receiving greater representation and privilege. as a straight white cis male, I have plenty enough privilege already, even if I don't consider my own life especially easy.

  • mine loves to rub his nose against mine, it's delightful. when I first found him (or rather, he found us and I managed to prevent him escaping), being cuddled up to my face was the first time he purred - actually, I'd gotten frustrated that he was staying so hostile even after hours of careful enticement, and I grabbed him very much against his will, but as soon as i held him up against my face/chest he was just a little ball of purring joy.

even half a year later, when he's feeling snuggly he will get right up on my chest and try to occupy the same space my head does.

  • have you ever seen those composite images made by combining a huge number of other, radically different images in such a way that each whole image acts like one "pixel" of the overall image? i bet AI models 'see' those images very differently than we do.
