Rimworld. It's not a game for me at this point, it's a drug that I have to take from time to time, and it takes all of your free time like a good drug would.
There are others with that effect for me, like modded Minecraft, or Factorio, or Satisfactory, or Hitman, or Skyrim, but nothing is that severe.
Well, if we look at that with their logic, showing the popular shit makes sense, because it's, well, popular, safe choice. The problem is, and they either ignore it or encourage it, that the algorithm promotes the most terrible things because the metrics is engaging and hate is as engaging, if not more, as other forms, and produces strong reactions.
And then we come to the second part of it. Why do you ever need to carry a firearm in public, what purpose can it server in a society, what problem it solves
And since people can't survive on a minimum wage, not even close, I have no idea what point you are trying to make. Instead of paying the stuff their salary, restaurants offload most of this cost to customers directly, which creates whole lot of problems for everyone involved. And that's just a fact.
They can do it because the labour laws in US are abysmal, and low minimum wage is just a tip of the iceberg. But the thing is, restaurant owners don't have to treat their stuff like trash, they chose to do it because nobody is stopping them. That part of the blame is squarely on them.
That's the thing, everything that I could find is a huge project made for storing huge projects, costs a lot of money and requires effort to install and even use. Yeah, naked git basically stores new version of an image for every commit, but nothing beats the fact that you need like two commands to use it and it just works, and storage is very cheap this days. And if you add LFS, it even does some kind of storage compression.
We had this conversation actually, about a hundred years ago, that's why you can't just buy a car at a car show and drive it on public roads without a test, a license, and without following the rules. If Henry Ford fought more vigorously at the time, we wouldn't have this rules, and then all the excessive deaths would be his fault also. In fact, a lot of the problems with car culture in US can be traced to specific people and companies, and they have a big portion of responsibilities for excessive deaths.
And that's talking about a car, a car's primary usage is not a murder. You don't need to overcome any of those hurdles to obtain and operate a firearm in a lot of cases, and the firearm's primary purpose is to kill, so it's even less excusable.
When I was younger, I worked as an IT guy on a printing factory, we had 24 hours shifts. The day was a usual IT shit, and at nights we did a little bit of maintenance but mostly we were on standby to fix IT stuff in the factory, most of the printing was done on the nights so the fresh press goes out in the morning. Mostly we were paid handsomely to play WOW the whole night, and once in a blue moon go to the factory floor and reboot something or repair a patchcord or reinstall a memory stick or something.
Then the company got merged with the other media company, they took over the factory, and their first decision was to remove night shifts, because why do you need to pay those IT wankers, they don't do anything most of the time. Of course most of us left but they had their own IT guys and everything was great, they were able to conserve so much money on salary, until one day one of the computers run out of disk space in the middle of the night and that clogged the whole damn factory, and since all the IT was home asleep, nobody was able to clear the cache, so nothing got printed, everyone involved lost millions, and the whole company was ultimately bankrupted because of this.
Like heaven. It was heaven. Nobody expected me to get up in the morning, I never had to turn on the alarm, I was getting up when I had a good sleep, not when the sun got up or whatever. Happiest years of my life.
There was a story about a guy in Google who, as it turned out, worked only an hour a day, and the rest of the time he worked on his passion project. The thing is, he did everything he was supposed to do, every metric was OK, all the tickets were closed and everyone was happy.
When it was posted on one IT forum, the comments were full of people accusing him of stealing money from the company and how he should be fired into the sun. All of those commenters were basically a regular IT guys. The lack of class solidarity is astonishing.
