  • He said, FINALLY A CREDIBLE PERUN VIDEO

  • I think it was a good thing in the long run, I’d just like people to temper their bloodlust a bit, lest we fail to learn any lessons from the past. It’s easy to let righteous indignation morph into something distinct but just as shitty as the thing it replaced.

  • Yeah I guess if they’re just short term testing something they can just wait for them to “go away” and then people will move on

  • I want them to come back so bad just so I can laugh at the malding that would come with the replacement of the pound with the euro.

  • I mean yeah, the pro-brexit arguments were always magical thinking

  • Oh yeah I agree that’s not the most plausible. I just mentioned that as it’s an excuse they’ve used previously. I’d expect something more like “light pollution surveying” or “generic scientific study”.

I can’t imagine you’d do an operation like this over one of the busiest parts of the country without a pre-prepared cover story that doesn’t make the government look incompetent. They usually hate looking incompetent.

  • Yeah the bright lights is why I also think this is some skunkworks testing that Uncle Sam would rather not disclose rather than an adversary. That said, if that was the case why don’t they pull out something akin to the tried and true “just weather balloons” excuse?

  • He also noted that the drones are flying above critical infrastructure such as water reservoirs, electric transmission lines, train stations, police departments and military installations.

I’ll just add some detail to this as a resident of NJ; we’re the most densely populated state in the nation. I would say it would be difficult for anything to fly in our airspace without being in close proximity to any of these things.

Even in the more rural south of the state, you have a massive military base, McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst taking up a huge area

  • You know that one ended with the reign of terror followed by the crowining of a monarch that then embroiled the entire European continent in war, right?

  • That’s it? I guess the idea is to suppress it to hope that this goes away sooner?

  • Reminds me of one time I was visiting my wife’s (then girlfriend’s) friends. I had a little too much whiskey and when that happens I sometimes sleepwalk. Apparently I got up to go to the bathroom, went into the primary’s bathroom instead of the hallway one, peed in their toilet (oh thank god I went in the toilet), and then proceeded to attempt to get into bed with my wife’s friend and his girlfriend.

I awoke in an extremely confused state to the friend patting me on the back saying “come on buddy, let’s get you to bed”. We still laugh about it; that friend ended up being the officiant at our wedding! He gracefully left that story out of the ceremony.

  • Habbal, a Syrian who had been living in Saudi Arabia since 2003, returned to Damascus in mid-2024 to visit his family, his brother said. He was arrested by the Syrian military police six months ago on charges of evading military service.

With trembling hands, Imad Habbal lifted the covering, his voice breaking as he wept and spoke to his brother.

“I told you not to come,” he said. “I wish you didn’t come.”

    Heartbreaking.

  • Care to elaborate on the safety risks there, Wes?

  • Russia sure is desperate for friends

  • My concern is that Russia is going to wine and dine the incoming Syrian government in order to keep their port access. Hopefully the Syrians will tell them to kick rocks on account of all the years of terror bombing dished out to them by the Kremlin

  • To answer your first question, yes. Israel has occupied the Golan Heights since the sixties and they had effectively annexed it over 40 years ago, as Israeli law applies in the Golan Heights despite being a de jure piece of Syria.
