  • I never played the SH serie, not because it looks bad but because it looked way to scary to play back in the days.

I have only heard good things about it, but I think I would profit more playing the remake, because graphics, sound design and technology changed way to much.

I know all of the die hard fans are going to down vote... The power of nostalgia. But have you tried to replay the first tomb rider, first metal gear, first resident evil...? While they left some good memories from the past, replaying them today will just scatter your memories into some strange soup-feeling you wished you never touched !

Either way, I'm happy I can finally give SH2 a shot :) I heard it was the best from the serie.

  • I hate them ! How can something be flat and a package at the same time ? Those flatpackers are the flatearther conspirators of IT ! Just burn them on hot pile of logs like we are in the 17th century !!! Burrrrn !!!

  • Edit: Thank you, found it on your shared link ! 😄

Oh wow thank you ! Would it be to much to ask for a dark mode version? If there's a one hit button to change into a more eye friendly color mode :)

Either way, thank your for sharing your work :))

  • Naaaah it won't save you from your scattered X tabs... I'm in the exact same situation and it's mostly an organization problem or focus on a single task !

I somehow managed to get a bit better by simply to force myself to clean my whole browser before I shut down my PC.

  • While I don't know of a solution I totally get what you mean... A lot of cool projects don't work anymore because of that...

Something similar to the container technology, where everything is packed into an image with all it's dependencies to the correct version. The app would probably be a security nightmare, but could still work in it's own contained system.

This sounds like a very neat technology that Linux is missing !

  • Now that I know a bit more about security and obfuscation I rather not use any pirated games/software anymore. If they know how to crack/reverse engineer some complicated stuff, you can be sure they add some shady stuff in it.

    • silent cryptominer
    • info stealer
    • hidden DNS ads requests
    • trojan
    • ...

They need somehow a way to earn there living expanses ? It's a service we think it's free but nothing comes without a counterpart.

  • Yep, Debian for sure ! 3 years ago I settled for debian on an old spare laptop, It's still cruisen with more than 21 containers !! Sure I had a few fresh installs because skill issues, lack of proper configuration, user mistakes... But it's probably the easiest to maintain and learn as a beginner !

No idea what's your level and how close you're with computers and how much time you have to spare, but don't be afraid to make mistakes and try a few things out.

If you are like me just a plain old geek who knew his way arround computers and used Hamachi back in the days, thinking you were a HAKKER... Get ready to get your ass kicked !

While self-hosting and de-googling is fun, it also has alot of negative things:

    • Time consuming
    • Involves ALOT of Searxing/Reading
    • Debuggin (kinda...)
    • Learning the basics of at least 1 scripting language (consider bash your ally)
    • It's an infinite rabbit hole that will suck you in and sometimes get to your nerves...

One of the best advice I could give you along the way is, If you're stuck on a bug or something isn't working as expected in your setup and It seems you couldn't find any answer or similar issues on the web, you absolutly have to take a break, not a 5min cigarette break... A few hours bicycle/sleep break !!!!

The next day you will for sure find a solution !!

Good luck, have fun and don't forget to take time for yourself and people arround you !

  • There is always going to be a divide between people who have done restaurant closings and those that haven't.

Naah every service that expects that "the client is king" philosophie have sentiment for all kind of people working in the same area.

I mean, I did retail jobs a few years ago, and still today when I go shopping or at restaurants or any other service, I always chose my time accordinlgy to not bother them to much... Because I know how people can be stupid assholes...

But from time to time you get some chill lovely creatures and that always brightened my day ☀️

  • Yeah, that's what most people don't understand... People should do some shrooms/LSD to get out of their head and back to their heart.

This would solve most if not all the cognitive dissonance we strugle with every day...
