You're not necessarily wrong. I certainly don't have any information to refute what you say....
I'm just not sure that pointing this out on a post about a woman's death is enhancing the discussion at all, so I'm not sure why you felt the need to share....
That's the thing. You (and I) don't know she wasn't seeing a psychiatrist and/or mental health professional.
You can seek help and want to live while still losing the fight against suicidal ideation.
I don't understand why anyone would be mad that someone was saving foxes from becoming pelts.
Unless you're the piece of shit profiting from the suffering and death of those animals, in which case, your opinion is null and void, nobody should be against the idea IMO.
It's incredible to me that anyone would carry such vitriol against such a noble cause.
May she rest in peace.
I get what you're trying to say, but by saying it, you've demonstrated a significant misunderstanding of what it's like to live with depression and suicidal ideation.
As simply as I can: I wouldn't assume that she wasn't seeking mental health help when she ended her own life. Just because she was successful in removing her own life, does not mean she wasn't trying to save herself from that outcome.
Intellectually, the above statement is contradictory, if she didn't want to die, then why did she end her own life? That, is the very nature of suicidal ideation and depression. You can't intellectually ponder it out of existence, and you can want to live while still having suicidal urges that are hard to control.
This isn't a logic problem. Intellectual reasoning doesn't have a place in the discussion. The cognitive therapy you get from a mental health professional often needs to be paired with anti-depressants to mitigate the negative thoughts while you sort of work on rewiring how you think about the things that are causing you to feel depressed. Whether those things are internal thoughts, or comments from external sources...
Depression is a demon that isn't easy to overcome.
By saying she should have just gotten therapy trivializes the struggle that some people go through every day, so I would expect some down votes for your comment. I understand that your comment is meant to be helpful and coming from a place of caring, but it does not come across that way.
I'll add a disclaimer: all of the thoughts and ideas expressed here have no scientific, nor medical basis, I am not a doctor. These are from my own personal experiences and research, and have no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience. I may be wrong and if I am, I hope any readers will comment to let me know that I have erred.
A final note: to anyone struggling with mental health: I hope you get the help and support you need to overcome any struggles you may be experiencing. I sincerely hope you can find a path towards mental health that works for you.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
My general rule of thumb is this:
Is this activity threatening to harm the lives, health, or well-being of anyone? Is this activity going to infringe on anyone else's inalienable human rights (to live, bodily autonomy, to exist without constant fear... Stuff like that)?
If the answers to both of these is a concrete "no" then I do nothing. I mind my own goddamned business and move along.
If someone is doing something that can and likely will end up with someone seriously hurt or dead, then yeah, I'll call and let someone know. Hopefully they can do something before anyone is seriously harmed. If one civilian is being mentally or physically abused by another, and I'm not in a position to intervene in a productive manner, then yeah, I'll call for that too.
If nobody is getting harmed, either mentally, physically, or financially, then I couldn't give any fewer shits. It's illegal? That's nice. The law can only be enforced if people who are tasked with enforcing it, take action. If they're not here, I don't feel any obligation to rat out someone who I don't know anything about. Maybe they're destitute because capitalism, or they're down on their luck, or something... They have a whole life story that I have absolutely no knowledge of.
Also, I don't consider corporations to be people (despite what the law might say), and if there's material/financial harm to a corpo, it would be impossible for me to give any less of a shit that whatever is happening, is happening. Whether theft, or destruction of property, or whatever... No shit will be given for your corpo overlords and/or shareholders. You all can get fucked. So if someone is stealing from.... Idk, Wal-Mart? And I saw that happen.... Then I didn't see anything officer. I don't know what you're talking about. That is an innocent person who has done nothing wrong. Where did they get the Walmart store-brand thing that they didn't pay for? I'm not sure, they probably had it with them before entering the store. I certainly didn't see them take anything that they shouldn't have.
Don't be a rat. Mind your own business; as long as nobody is getting hurt.... and if someone is getting hurt, do everything in your power to resolve the situation before resorting to a call to the police. It's actually really simple.
sounds like it's (long past) time to not cooperate with the
Houstonpolice in any investigation.
FTFY.
OSHA probably cares.
The company should care, because if the workers are dropping off because of heat stroke, they're not creating value for the shareholders.
As a straight, I agree with this.
Me personally, I'm ok, for the most part. I'm sure you are too ... But all of my fellow straights? Most of them are.... Well.... Very not ok.
As someone who is straight/cis/male, and very secure in that..... Anyone who takes offense.... Probably gay. Just saying.
I don't take any offense to this stuff. I know who I am. I know what I like. I know where I stand in the grand scheme of things. I live by a very straightforward philosophy: don't like gay sex? don't have gay sex. Don't like gay marriage? Don't get gay married. Don't deny someone else of what you don't want for yourself.
We're all different, and that's a good thing.
Do not apologize. That's quite the story you have.
If you're unhappy with where you are, who you are with, or who you are, you can always change. It's never too late and trust me, as a long term supporter of the LGBTQ+ movement (despite being very straight/cis), they are a very accepting group.
As an outsider, I can't tell you what, how, or when changes are going to work best for you, nor what changes you could, or should make. That's entirely your decision and it's a big one, and I'm sorry about that. I'm only saying that it's not too late to figure out who you are and how to be comfortable with your life.
All the best. Take care of yourself.
I don't expect to retire.
I'll probably be found at my desk on a Monday, not even first thing, but like, at 11:45, after dying there sometime Friday afternoon, and people just thought I was "working late" and left for the weekend, while I'm a literal corpse.
Whatever. I'm over it. I won't have any fucks left to give when that happens because I won't be alive to give any fucks.
4 day work weeks or 52 vacation days per year as a minimum. You can either take one day a week and only work 4 days each week, or save them up and take a 10 week vacation.
I need to check into this, but maybe someone knows.
I assumed that if you're using incognito and you don't sign into your Google account, the activity wouldn't be tied to your Google account. It might be recorded and sent to Google, but anonymously, unless you signed into Google/Gmail/YouTube/whatever, while incognito.
The obvious is that your activity wouldn't end up on your Internet history in your non-incognito Chrome.
Now I want pickles
Well, the feds did it to themselves. Rather than focusing on the crime of murder, they focused on the victim, who is completely unrelatable, and generally disliked, then they focused on the motive, which they presented in the context of "it was pre-meditated!" And everyone just saw a very relatable person in the accused and collectively we all kind of went "mood" ..... So I'm not sure what they expected, but that CEO guy that's not important enough to remember the name of, who died, is not the victim here.
The victims are all the people that were denied while CEO guy was in charge, denied by the policies he put in place, promoted, demanded that people enforce, or any of the above.... Luigi is just the latest in a long line of victims that this guy has caused suffering to.
Not even... Like, one letter?
He was in PA at McDonald's during the time of the murder. I was there! I saw it!
That's strange, I was out with him having a meal that day when he supposedly was doing the thing he's accused of... Certainly you must be thinking of a different day...
Right? Everyone has had eyes I guess.
Idk why. If it was the same person, the information is relevant to the discussion.
I'm happy to know that they were proud of what they were doing. I hope it was a light in their life.
It's terrible that anyone would hold any hate for someone trying to do the kind of work she was doing.
