  • Tipping in germany is a thing. The culture here is much less intense about it than the american tipping culture.

  • I‘M LEAVING SIMON IN CUBAN RUM FOR A WEEK… OR UNTIL SOMETHING INTERESTING HAPPENS!

  • How can you surf this site? I opened this in Vivaldi on my iPhone (with integrated adblock enabled) and it immediately greeted me with untrustworthy popups?

EDIT: This comment should‘ve gone under another users comment.

  • Tarrare. Look at me. Did you eat a fucking baby?

  • I personally do it for both extrinsic and intrinsic reasons. I feel very cute with eyeshadow and mascara. Unfortunately i needed a second attempt at puberty so i also need makeup to ensure that no one gives me a hard time for my beard shadow. Including myself.

  • There was a landlord on TikTok who essentially asked for tips. He had his friend play a renter that refused to tip him and argued that if waiters get tipped just for delivering the food to the table, the landlord totally deserves a tip for being available for calls and fixing stuff.

One giant shitstorm later and we end up with this meme and the landlord making a TikTok in which he said that it all was a joke.

  • I craved the strength and certainty of Pepto-Bismol.

  • To quote Postal Dude: "Hi there, would you like to sign my petition?"

(Holds petition titled "Make insulting new members on lemmy.world compulsory")

  • Can you hear that, costume designers? This is the sound of my 3D printer! It says „I‘ll have these deltas printed in no time.“

  • Rise and shine, Mr. Freeman. Riiise-

CAN YOU SHUT UP FOR LIKE 5 MINUTES? I COULD BARELY GER ANY PROPER SLEEP IN STASIS!

  • I think the question was more about „Why do i have to register to be able to vote?“

Which is a good question. In germany we don‘t have to register to vote at any level. Once we‘re 18 and are registered citizens (the latter part is indeed a problem for immigrants due to bureaucracy), we get to vote.

We get a letter informing us where our local poll station is and then go there. A poll helper then crosses our names off a list once we‘re there and our ID is validated. Or we use the included ballot and send the letter back for mail-in voting. We can also have someone else vote for us if, say, the accessibility measures at the local poll station still don‘t suffice.

Germany isn‘t a perfect state but i personally think they make damn sure that you can vote. And it‘s really problematic that the ostensibly democratic US doesn‘t nearly put as much effort into enabling people to vote.

  • Obi Wan: Not to worry, we‘re still running half a tank!

  • Boy, i sure hope someone got fired for that blunder

  • Have you been up eating chicken nuggets all night?

  • You could try to fix this from a very different angle by buying those strips for the nose against snoring. Those strips can temporarily unobstruct the air flow in the nose.

  • HIDE THE SCARS TO FADE AWAY THE SHAKEUP!

  • The kerning is all over the place

  • Loopy-schwoopy troll physics!

  • One bad spelling spoiled the whole comment

  • Open Source doesn't mean automatically that applications look ugly. It only means that they look ugly on non-Linux systems. Like VLC Player, Open Office, etc.

Linux systems are easy to install. The real challenge is to diagnose an issue. What caused the crash of GTA V? The new Mesa drivers? The new Gamescope update? Some update in the game that breaks in conjunction with KDE running in Wayland? But you launched the game in xwayland, how could Wayland still cause trouble? Or is it the latest FEX update you installed because you saw a Youtuber playing Elden Ring on their iPhone 14 Pro with HoloISO and you figured that the 15 Pro should handle the game perfectly?
