A cool little mechanical scoop-thing, which is perfect for making falafels. Cost me <2€ and it's awesome. Perfect size and shape and most importantly super easy to clean.
A lot of it is only cost-cutting disguised as innovation though. Some jobs, like accounting, doesn't really suffer from removing the human element, but compare that to the chatbot hellscape that customer service has become.
We need to be VERY conscious of what we "innovate" and guide the development with taxation and laws.
I think every country has people with a personality-vacuum that they've filled with a job. But in my anecdotal, personal experience, Americans tend to do it far more often (they also work WAY more).
I use Minecraft with my students to introduce them to command-line-like scripting. Especially the worldedit plugin is fantastic for this.
It keeps things light and shows them the power of scripting, in an environment they are familiar and comfortable with. They are much more comfortable with using a terminal/cmd afterwards.
Alright, I'm a software engineer and PC building hobbyist, so by no means an expert when it comes to this stuff. But I've added and replaced so much RAM over the years, that I think I can help you.
Overall, what you need to know is the DDR version, if they are DIMM or SODIMM, the frequency and the capacity.
I usually figure out the DDR type by simply looking at whatever was in the machine previously, or checking out the motherboard specs.
I've never encountered other than SODIMM on a laptop. The same cannot be said for a desktop, which can use either depending on the motherboard.
If you make sure the DIMM type and DDR version matches your motherboard, the stick will fit in your machine.
For the frequency, I generally try to make sure all sticks run at the same frequency. This can also be tweaked in the BIOS.
When it comes to capacity, it depends on your needs and budget.
About to finish Snow Crash, and I was just thinking about reading Seveneves afterwards. Is it good? How does it compare to Cryptonomicon and Snow Crash (the only other Stephenson books I've read)?
Anyone who has info about the environmental impact of something like this, compared to physical media? Not trying to be a downer, I'm genuinely curious.
I love both series from first to last book. Hyperion is a fun blend of genres and ideas, whereas Dune is epic fantasy in space. They are VERY different, but equally amazing.
About 70 percentage points better than my doctor. Nice!
