Yes! So glad to see developers sticking to their principles and switching for good. Every time I'm working with Blender or Godot I feel like I'm living in the future I've always dreamed of.

I read a lot of SF and I really enjoyed it because of the ideas and scope of the story. The ending of the third book is really lovely and unique, but getting there can be a little rough. I think the format of a TV series is the perfect way to retell this story.
Oh man, you are missing out by not getting to the last book. This is one of those Sci Fi series that start slow, and then increase in scope at an incredible pace. I had a rough time getting into the first book, but then suddenly it got SO GOOD so fast.
If you need DaVinci Resolve, just know that when you switch to Linux, you will lose the ability to read and render mp4 files. You will need to buy the full version to be able to do this on Linux.
I use my desktop primarily for video editing, 3D modeling, and a bit of gaming, and it's been running Pop!_OS since December with absolutely zero issues. The only annoyance has been the mp4 file thing in DaVinci.
Time for a Bob's Burgers rewatch
