Thanks. Tho does surprise me to hear that backups to the computer is still a thing people do on any sort of scale. Dev projects tho, that def makes sense
Also, it’s frustrating that everyone acts like lightning has no redeeming qualities. Lightning is a postless port, meaning that the failure mode is outside the device. If you accidentally trip over your cable, the cable will break but the port will be fine. That’s why your grandma can be using a 10 year old iPhone and treat it like shit
I think a serious argument could be made that more e-waste could be made by having a device that has a higher chance of breaking.
I’ll be happy to have a single cable for everything but that device will have a short life overall once it hits the point where the cost of any repair on the port outweighs the value of the device.
I’ll also have a lot of lightning cables that will become obsolete but that’s how it goes. There will be a ton of old people giving a lot of retail works a lot of shit that Apple changed ports just to make money. It happened when they went from 30-pin to lightning over decade ago and will happen again
Last week an explodingheads shithead kept posting racist (Also antisemitic etc etc) "memes". People told them to get fucked. It was wonderful to see everyone be incredibly mean to the fucker.
If we know one thing about nazis, it's that when they get busted for any crime, they always end up finding csam as well. So wouldn't suprise me if some nazi got angry because they weren't welcome here and cracked open his personal collection
The perps are taking a big risk as well. Finding and uploading csam means being in possession of it. So we can at least take solace in knowing it's not a tool that just anyone wiill use to take down a community.
Uploading to websites counts as distribution. The authorities will actually care about this. It's not just some small thing that is technically a crime. It's big time crime being used for skme thing petty.
So while the perp might win in the short term, they are risking their lives using this tactic. I'm not terribly worried about it becoming a common tactic
I'd anything, if I were the one doing this, I'd be worried that I might be pissing off the wrong group of people. If they keep at it and become a bigger problem, everyone is going to be looking for them. And then that person is going to big boy prison.
IMO scanning images before posting them to a forum is a distinct and utterly completely different world than having your photo collection scanned. Especially in context and scale
I beleive there are several readily available databases of hashes of csam material for exactly this kind of scanning. Looks like there are some open source ones.
You do a great job. I've reported quite a few shit heads there and it gets handled well and quickly. You have no way of knowing if some roach is gonna die after getting squashed or if they are going to keep coming back
The last panel makes this feel like Garfield boomer humor.
I guess a more modern final panel would probably be the other two geese accidentally eating turds with giant smiles on their beaks while the one in the middle cries
Honesty, this is going to be way way way more humane than lethal injection. I'd prefer the state not have the power to kill it's citizens but if they are going to, I want it to be painless
A lovely magical tool where you tell it what you want things to be and it does the magic of making that happen. It's the infrastructure as code version of a genie.
I'm enjoying it. It's not perfect but I do think it's good enough that it'll get people interested in the Manga or Anime!
