  • You played 50+hours? If it was boring why did you give it that many hours?

    I couldnt do that.

I didnt even give it the time of day to purchase it. After diablo immortal and the rest of what had been going on with blizzard around that time i knew the diablo 4 was going to be a cash grab and a waste of time.

  • Hey, fair enough, dont really heckle comedians. Its their show, unless its something they actively seek in their audience, i wouldn't think about it.

I didnt mean to over analyse the joke, i just asked a question about the synonimity of WiFi and mobile data and was challenged on the intent behind the use of the word WiFi, so i responded with my take on what was intended. It wasn't to ruin the joke. It was to validate my question about the use of WiFi when i believe they meant mobile data.

Frankly you are the one who made it about ruining the joke.

  • Do you, by any chance, have network extenders that send ethernet via an electrical socket? They send the ethernet signals through your electrical wiring, and if for some reason your bathroom light is on the same circuit as your sockets, then you might be getting some kind of wake on lan packet. Or what it thinks is a wake on lan packet.

  • Well, that sort of highlights my issue and why i assume they meant mobile data. If they are, in the joke, connected to WiFi, then they wouldn't be surprised by the signal strength. Because they are near a router and therfore the signal is good enough to use. You aren't typically able to connect to WiFi if the signal is below -70 -80 decibels.

I think its fairly clear that they meant mobile data as this is something you would be surprised to still have if you were lost in a cave.

Not that i wouldn't be surprised to find WiFi down there, just that i wouldn't be surprised by the strength of the WiFi signal if i was standing close enough to a router to see the SSID.

  • Is it now the norm to make the term WiFi synonymous with the term cellular/mobile data (or 4g/5g)

They are not the same thing.

Is this like when people call tablets ipads? Or call vacuums hoovers/dysons.

  • Oh! Thats awful! What sites did she post her nudes to? Like which specific ones?

Edit: this is a joke. Im devastated that i need to say this. How is it no obvious? Please do not send me links to her porn.

Is there a reason to downvote me other than thinking im being serious? This is a serious subject, she should not be fired for having a hobby. I 100% believe that.

I was just making a joke.

    1. I know how to google, if i wanted to i could probably find YOUR nudes (even if they dont exist)
    2. Its a reference to a tv show. Im personifying the joke performed by the character Mac.
  • Some people have this incredibly annoying habit of seeing anything remotely tech related as magic and they switch off their brain, assuming that they could never understand it.

    Them: "My computer is broken"

    Me:"Whats the issue?"

Them: "i dont know, i tried to open my email and its got some error message and wont open"

Me:" what does the error message say?"

Them:"err, cannot open email during update, please wait until update is complete"

    Me:"is your email app updating?"

    Them:"yes.

Me:"wait for it to finish and try again..."

(Obviously tbats not a real scenario, but im not good at examples and just wanted to get the general gist across)

  • This summary had me confused. I misread and thought, "wow japan has the most mcdonalds restaurants in the world?" Then i realised it said "of the other countries affected". USA has 14.5k mcdonalds... wow.

  • There are a few things they could try. You can get biodegradable bottles, you could use glass or metal, there are cardboard bottles and silicon and even ceramic.

You could also change the way we buy these drinks from bottles we buy and throw away to containers we keep and refill from dispensers. The infrastructure isn't there for it, but with the amount of money the major drinks companies make its not unreasonable to assume they could afford to implement it.

And arguing that these alternatives are not practical is a wasted effort because an alternative IS needed to stop mass plastic waste and protect the environment so we need to get used to the bar being set at a different height.
