  • Welp, better late than never.

I would love to be proven wrong, but I'm not sure there's anything in our wildest dreams that could snap anybody in his base out of their trance at this point. What line is there that he hasn't already crossed?

  • Maybe it's a generational divide or something, but I would lose my fucking mind if my partner for life were braindead enough to support trump. Maybe Clinton v Dole was just a more reasonable thing to disagree with your spouse about (idk, I wasn't there, and I don't care enough to look into it, don't @ me), but a disagreement in 2024 fundamentally is about democracy v fascism, helping people v hurting people, and decency v shameless petulance. A politically split household in 2024 is not a team or a partnership in any meaningful way. Just fucking get a divorce already because you've clearly married the wrong person! There's absolutely no fucking way I could cohabitate with, let alone share a bed with somebody who wants women, children, immigrants, minorities, LGBTQ+ people, and poor people to be punished in every aspect of life for not being financially comfortable, straight, white, cis men. Truly incomprehensible. "But taxes! But gas prices!" No. Just no. You're clearly not actually paying attention if you think that literally anything would be better for you under trump. There would be short term gains at the expense of long term collapse, just like what happened when you gave him the keys last time.

And I don't mean you specifically. Just the rhetorical "you" for anybody it would apply to.

  • Sharply agreed. My wife and I both work a lot and don't have kids or even any pets (yet) and it's insane to think that there was a time just a short while ago that one person with a high school diploma could work 40 hour weeks and it would cover a mortgage, two cars, multiple kids, and still have money for savings and modest vacations. DINK couples in their 30s like us are finally catching up to the average 20 somethings with a few kids of 40 years ago.

Shit has changed. And as a result, I think that pro-choice should mean much more than just access to contraception and abortion. Pro-choice should mean that it's possible to choose to have children too, as in childcare and diapers and everything shouldn't be so prohibitively expensive that only the top 10% earners should have the flexibility for a pregnancy to be a blessing and not a life-shattering burden. If conservatives want babies to be born, they're going about it all wrong.

  • They're kinda proving that those are unnecessary, though. They're in uncanny valley and espousing literal Nazi ideology and still getting elected. At that point, why even buy lipstick for the pig in the first place? Their dog whistles have been packed up in boxes in the attic for years. Echo chambers that blame scapegoats, vilify opponents, and deify their candidates are all that is really necessary. They can literally get away with saying "well, Hitler had some good ideas too, though..." and the base will lap it up and show up to cast their ballots.

Charisma and articulation are off-putting to their uncharismatic and inarticulate voters anyway. That might actually do more harm than good. Because "talking good is gay" or something. It's dumb but it's how they feel, and their feelings don't give a fuck about facts.

  • I'm pretty much always coming back to Rocket League with a couple of friends. We're probably gonna get Space Marine 2 soon to play together too.

Paper Mario Thousand Year Door remake with my wife because she's never seen it. We also started Dead Space. Right now our main obsession is passing the controller back and forth to play Dredge.

I also have a create a pro career I will play off and on in FC 24 and NHL 24 (both were included with PS+, don't @ me lol).

Because of PS+, I'll try a new game every few weeks. Some really keep my attention like Tunic and The Forgotten City did, and some get deleted almost immediately like Car Mechanic Simulator and Ride 5. I'm always trying something new.

  • Mexico is a nice time, and you can get good deals on all inclusive places. In general, Cancun is more about partying and Playa del Carmen is more about chilling and/or shopping. My wife and I have been to The Reef 28 in Playa del Carmen twice which is adults only and all inclusive with access to their sister resorts nearby and it was a great time. If you book through them directly you can get a bundle that includes flight and transportation to and from the Cancun airport, and they'll work with you to get deals on snorkeling or whatever you wanna do. Just don't pay for anything in the airport, they're scams.

Most importantly, have the vacation that you want and have the time that you want. You can see the sights, do adventures, or loaf, and it's your call what you want to do with your vacation.

  • Same. And I'm pretty sure it doesn't take much more than trying to stop the broken world we inherited from breaking further and encouraging them to explore passions even when we don't understand them. That's the level of respect we yearned for and never got, so let's just try to be who we wanted boomers and gen x to be and I think we'll all be okay. Ideally we could fix what's broken, but it always takes longer to clean up a mess than to make one. We just need to be willing to plant trees whose shades we'll never enjoy.

  • My first thought when I saw this was that this looked like some Facebook boomer shitposting from like 10-15 years ago, but with kinda recent slang and image subbed in. I'm sure some gen x would unironically be all in on this, but it's the small percentage of them that are basically just boomers who time traveled. They're the same people who still like old westerns and rant about how nobody has common sense anymore, which if you think about for more than 5 seconds reveals that whatever they think is common sense must not be "common" sense at all, actually, and perhaps the current "common sense" is stuff that they never learned, like how to clear the cache for a phone app that's acting up.

  • Brining the chicken including the eggs in the fridge and the other ones are the same as the first time. Jet fuel filter change complicates the ordeal, yet the only thing I need for it was to make sure they were not in there. Chickens and cows are the best for you and your entire family and friends with the best of us all inside the same world. Never attempt to be honest with the kids about the time you guys were able to get a new deboning done by Friday night and the other one was a little bit better than the yesterday. Salted butter and buttered salt are essentially the same thing as the other, but it's not that long ago that burning up and being really hard on the couch could be a good day for the chicken bones or two and a half of the meat.

  • The problem for me is that nothing populates unless I manually choose some starting words in my life and I don't know what to do with it but I don't think I can do it all day but I don't know what to do with it but I don't know what to do that I don't think it is a good idea to get it to the house today but I don't think it will be a good idea to get it done but I don't think it is a good idea to get it to the house today but I don't think it will be a good idea to get it to the house today but I don't think it will be a good idea to get it to the house today.

Seems to have found a problematic loop for the first time in the world but I think I have a lot of work to do in the morning and I will be there in a few minutes unless you want to go to the beach and get a little bit of the time to get it done but I don't know what to do with it but I will be there in a few minutes unless you want to go to the house today but I can get it to you tomorrow morning and I will be there in a few minutes unless you want to go to the house today but I don't think I can get it to you when I get home and I'll be there in a few minutes unless you want to go to the house today but I don't think I can get it to you if you want to go to the house today but I don't think it will be a good time to get it to you and I will be there in a few minutes unless you want to go to the house today.

This shit sucks that I don't think I have a lot of money to do it all the time but I don't know what to do with it but I don't know what to do with it but I don't know what to do that I don't think it will be a good idea to get it to the house today but I can do it all day and then I'll be there in a few minutes unless you want to go to the house today.

Terrible. Just terrible it was a good day for me to get a new job and I was just going to say I was going to be a little late but I don't know if you want to go to the store or something else but I can do it all day long but I can get it to you when I get home and I'll be there in a few minutes unless you want to go to the house today.

  • I learned this method from my grandmother when I was a child, God rest her soul. I've tried with kerosene when I didn't have jet fuel in my pantry, but it just wasn't the same. Don't even bother prepping the cow until you've verified your supply of jet fuel.

  • If we make sure that billionaires can keep more of their billions, then surely some of their billions will trickle down to the very same destination that taxing them in the first place would have ensured that it would end up at. It's actually smarter that way because it's an investment that accrues interest and they will also employ people who otherwise would've been suckling on the teat of big government social programs. Billionaires actually are paying more money into our systems by being job creators than if they were taxed like the middle class are.

Just kidding. Can you imagine actually believing bullshit like that? Fuck, that kinda made my stomach churn to even pretend to believe in.

  • I'm super behind and that mostly doesn't matter, which is nice. Excellent podcast. Currently on part 3 of the Thomas Jefferson deep dive. For people who like Behind The Bastards, check out their limited run of Behind The Police.
