  • 3d printing without basic cad skills is almost useless imo. I use freecad now but I've made tons of useful precision fit things using tinkercad.

  • Believe it or not it's also a terrible job. You see a lot of bad shit. Car wrecks, death, abused kids. And even if you do your job the right way most the people you interact with won't like you.

  • Years ago I had the opposite issue. The printer driver would rarely work. When I switched to ubuntu for unrelated reasons the printer worked everytime. I suspect that this is very unusual and 99.999% of the time your scenario is more likely. Just wanted to share =).

  • It's largely mitigated in the newest version. I also used that branch. I don't know if maybe they folded that branch in to the main or what.

  • It's hard for me to bitch when it's free. I am very grateful for their efforts. That being said the learning curve is steep. But I'd assume not as steep a openscad.

  • Openscad is all text based. Freecad is more like conventional cad software like fusion 360. Honestly I don't even know how people can use Openscad lol.
