Is their any evolutionary benefit to the sneezing reflex when looking at a bright light source, or is it just an evolutionary glitch with no purpose?

  • That's true but OP is making a point that people who were abused by their parents are a relatively common minority, as opposed to people abused by Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny which, for sure, there may be some out there but probably not that many.

    I once went to a museum and they had a chef preparing some insects. I asked him for how long he'd been cooking insects, and he kind of glanced sideways and said he had no fucking clue of what he was doing. He just got the gig to cook the insects for museum visitors and just rolled with it. They were good though, there were crickets, ants and mealworms.

  • I've tried them without flavoring just fried and they resemble a lot that crispy layer of connective tissue that you get on ribs. So BBQ is probably a great pairing with that.

    I mean I've tried them already, only reason they're not part of my diet is that they're not usually (read: never) in stock where I get my groceries.

  • Yes, I hear the series starring the sister is going pretty well but it's a totally different genre.

  • Nah my season 1 was the best. Writers on point. Solid stuff, sometimes slow paced but interesting.

    Season two started to slowly decline, season 3 was so lame the main character almost quits.

  • Heavy sarcasm there, uncalled for imo. It wouldn't be unheard of for people to invest time and passion into a corporate owned IP, and it doesn't always go belly up. Look at the amount of Elder Scrolls mods and patches just as one example.

  • I've had a classmate who was bipolar. Super lovely girl, she would sometimes feel more sensible if the medication changed but I've never thought of her as needing to be treated with any special considerations when interacting socially. She got married and had kids and is still going well.

    A close friend of my mother was married to a bipolar woman. She tried to kill him with a kitchen knife on one occasion, and in another, she effectively set the house on fire- they lost everything.

    So, I don't really know what to say to you. My understanding is that your mileage may vary and by a lot. Personally I believe it's manageable in most cases with proper healthcare, and you probably already deal with several bipolar people day to day - you just don't notice it. But, I'm not an expert so take this with a pinch of salt.
