Yes, and keeping these people safe in US federal prisons was going to be difficult. Many of them would have been murdered/assaulted due to how poorly the US manages the prison system.

Because it is very difficult to monitor, investors tend to hate it, and they have issues with CSAM being shared on site (while making it neigh impossible to address).

Reddit's board has been fighting over whether to house porn subs for years now. Spez has been very vocal about how difficult that has been for reddit.

The real issue was almost nothing you list was illegal at the time except potentially creepshots as odds are some had to be kids (IDK not my bag- kids or creep stuff). Whereas, specific calls to targeted violence against specific people is an actual crime in the country where reddit is headquartered. I don't like what they did but it makes sense.

People should get off of reddit because of reasons other than this

As a Congressperson in NYC you will meet many. I worked in the wine business and I have met 4-5.

But platforms cannot host and spread demands for violence without being an accessory to the crimes advocated.

On any Lemmy instance I would expect admins to axe threads/boards that made specific calls to harm specific people. You cannot advocate targeted violence in many countries
