  • Idles, Ghost, Wind Rose, and Parquet Courts. For musicians who are no longer around, definitely John Coltrane and Audioslave/Soundgarden. They all seem like they put on a hell of a show and the people who listen to them seem to not be assholes for the most part.

  • Honestly, go as complex as you'll be able to put up with daily. Get a burr grinder if you think you're willing to take 5 minutes every day measuring out and grinding coffee. It'll guarantee the best performance possible from the beans you're using. Paper or metal filters, up to you. Paper filters are probably better, metal filters are more convenient. A good kettle is a must, I think. Stovetop or electric, as long as it has a goose neck. Trying to get a good bloom without one is a PITA.

  • Binge info. I look up whatever random question was bugging me earlier that day/week/month, and try and read everything even tangentially related. By the end I'm distracted enough I forgot about being sad.

Not a solution though. On the upside, I got to learn a bit more.

  • Just finished Dune Messiah. It was good, but I liked the first one more. Feel like it could've been shorter, while at the same time I feel like I would've appreciated more info on how the jihad affected people outside Arrakeen.

I'll probably start on either Colour of Magic or Gardens of the Moon next.

  • Pour over is probably it. I got my mum, who prefers simple solutions, a steel filter. It's got little holes in it. Got a v60 as well. It's done really quickly and is very forgiving with grind size. Most demanding step of the whole process for her was pouring it over in circles.

Still pulls out the percolator sometimes though. Doesn't like standing over the stove doing nothing. Tastes bitter as all hell but hey, she's done her coffee that way her entire life.

  • IMO the problem at this point is leadership. They've realized people will buy their shit if they sell a cheap, surface-deep fantasy with interesting visuals and let folks do a very limited number of different things in a single playthrough. Because of that, there's no nuance to their worlds. They want to make a sandbox game with no reactivity.

Unless leadership resigns I won't expect anything else than the equivalent of a gas station meal.

  • I'm a new DM (and new to TTRPGs in general). I'm using bard and chatgpt to keep track of homebrew stuff.

I'm running an almost completely custom system, adapted to ASOIAF. Races (renamed to origins), classes, backgrounds, feats, etc. extra mechanics like duelling systems and large battle simulations, and faction interaction systems. It's a lot, and I find it easier for me to have the bot spray solutions to whatever issue I run into, then grab the one that might work, and refine it until it might sound fun. I need to get a system in order to keep track of my campaign, though. Tried WorldAnvil and honestly, I don't need that many tools. Might go back to Notion and keep track of all the factions and characters that way. Gonna be a lot of work though.

  • Hey! Couple q's regarding Foundry. I'm the DM of our group, and have a ton (and I mean a ton) of homebrew for the campaign we're running atm. The homebrew spans changes to core mechanics (no damage rolls for example) to completely revamped classes, races, and backgrounds. How easy is it to homebrew on foundry? I've been eyeing it for a while because roll20 is so user unfriendly I was thinking of going back to Owlbear and manage everything through google sheets, or upgrading to paid VTTs.

  • Word of warning: the game is jank personified, but once you get past the animations, visuals, and weird storytelling, it has a lot of charm. It does quite a lot differently to other RPGs and survival games, and because of that, it has a hell of a learning curve.

Playing it makes me remember how I felt when I played Morrowind, for some reason. Not because it is the same caliber of game though, that much is for certain.
