  • Metallica - 2x4. It actually got me to stop my listen through of their albums one song into Load, and was a week or two before I pushed through to the rest of the album.

St. Anger has some boring songs, but this song I actively loathe.

  • People are focusing on the “violence begets violence” in the title but not this:

“I wanted to make that movie so badly, but I felt the only way was, it had to be a love story, not a vengeance story,” Smith said.

And… I get that? I liked Django and all, but I can see how Will might not like the bloody climax where the focus is more on the revenge than rescuing his wife. I think it’s fine he passed on the role and let it go to someone who was more invested with the revenge story.

  • While that’s possible, I kind of suspect that if Trump clearly loses this election, the Republicans will just start distancing themselves from him.

He’s 78 and on trial for multiple felonies. In 4 years he’ll be 82 with 2 election losses in a row and possibly be still embroiled in legal battles. I just don’t see the Republicans trying as hard as they did in 2020 to keep him afloat when they can just ditch him and focus on their rebrand for 2028.

  • The betting favorite has only lost twice since 1866, according to the Conversation, a nonprofit news organization.

The two upsets came in 1948, when Harry Truman (D) beat eight-to-one odds to defeat Thomas Dewey (R), and in 2016, when Trump overcame seven-to-two odds to beat Hillary Clinton.

Wow, and both of those were famous upsets outside of betting circles: newspapers even preprinted Dewey victory articles in 1948.
