I get that I am being melodramatic & going way too hard on this cartoonists &, in all fairness, the comic itself is pretty funny.

But goddamn if I am not sick & tired of lazy ass cartoonists that just draw white blobby dudes one step up from stick men. Fucking LAME.

I put "hilarious comics" into DDG & just LOOK at the mess of blobby white people drawn over shitty (or no) backgrounds combined with way too many words. Prince Valiant these ain't.

EDIT: Sorry, I'll expand. When AI researchers give talks about how AI works, they say things like, "on a fundamental level, we don't actually know what's going on."

Also, even if there are books available about how to write an AI from scratch(?) somehow, the basic understanding of what happens deep within the neural networks is still a "magic black box". They'll crack it open eventually, but not yet.

The ideas that people have that AI is simple and stupid & a passing fad are naive.

This is not necessarily true. While it's using pattern recognition on a surface level, we're not entirely sure how AI comes up with it's output.

But beyond that, a lot of talk has been centered around a threshold when AI begins training other AI & can improve through iterations. Once that happens, people believe AI will not only improve extremely rapidly, but we will understand even less of what is happening when an AI black boxes train other AI black boxes.

I get it. I almost exclusively run llms locally on my laptop or phone, so my energy consumption is no more than gamers'.

Privatized AI is the issue, they'll suck up resources forever if there's a profit motive & try to prevent local llm usage at all costs.

AI Isn't without its ethical issues or dangers, but I've noticed most people really seem to hate how it's used to abuse & exploit in our system.

I've been using it for nearly a decade & continues to get ignored by folks for some reason.

It's also in the official Play Store, I believe.
