  • I’ve been posting about it periodically.

I’m pushing the “buy Canadian” angle by promoting Fedecan, the non-profit running Lemmy.ca and now Pixelfed.ca.

Also, reminding people that American companies are making money off your data, and these servers are Canadian owned social media, in a way.

I still have no followers on Pixelfed, but 🤷‍♂️

  • Now that I’m all set up i put my profile on Facebook to see if I can attract some more “regular” people.

I have an artist friend who was interested in the idea of running a Pixelfed account side-by-side with his instagram, but Instagram linking to the Pixelfed with some bonus content there. I’m gonna see if he needs help with that later today.

  • I’m still stuck on the registration screen. I didn’t see a captcha before and it would just do nothing. I don’t see one now either, but now it’s telling me my password confirmation doesn’t match every time I try. Or I messed it up 10 times. 🤔

Edit: I guess I did mess it up ten times because it just worked :)

  • I’m trying to sign up through the Pixelfed app, but it doesn’t show this server and I don’t see anywhere to type it in. Help?

Edit: Oh I found the entry box under Other, way down at the bottom then sign-in to custom server.

I’m thinking I need to sign up on the webpage though.

Edit: signup isn’t working for me the mobile website. I’ll try on desktop later.

  • Wow, a bunch of assholes in here.

A bunch of assholes that don’t seem to realize that no one gives a shit if you don’t like Mac OS

This is a community for people who do. Grow up.

OP: thanks, I learned a couple useful tips from this.

  • Honestly, where it really breaks down for me is how they constantly portray other people as villains and tell you what their beliefs are.

There is no problem with gay rapists, immigrant murderers, trans baby-eaters, etc etc. No more than any other segment of society anyway.

I was taught not to always believe what others say about… others. If you want to know where someone stands, talk to them, don’t take a 3rd party’s word for it.

Although that doesn’t apply to people who confirmed super-liars.

  • And it’s everywhere!

Don’t trust the mainstream media they say, but these days Facebook, YouTube, instagram, etc have billions of users worldwide. Those are mainstream media.

So in a way they’re right, but they seem to think Facebook and YouTube are some hot new thing and they can be trusted because they’re not part of “the establishment” or whatever. Those of us who were around since the beginning saw the decline from cat-video-sharing-platform to propaganda outlet. Hopefully more people start realizing it.
