Properly disposing of any product should be baked into the purchase price. If you wanna buy cheap plastic shit then you should pay for society to get rid of it when you're done with it. But that makes way too much sense so it will never happen.

The world building was solid enough to distract me from the writing for a long time. This probably sounds like a nitpick but here goes.

The part where the scientists are explaining GAIA (whatever its called) was so badly done I lost all suspension of disbelief. Like why did these people spend, presumably hours of their precious time, creating an Apple style keynote speech explaining their plan to save the world. Like maybe just focus on saving the world? And one of them has a valley accent. No disrespect to valley accents but if you're trying to convince me I'm listening to one of the smartest people in the world it's definitely a bad choice to give them an accent attributed to ignorant white girls.

Oof thats a big oof. Can't say I'll that will stop me from buying the expansion though. If I boycotted every product made by problematic people I'd probably have to live like a monk.

I think people are questioning the ethics of Batman more these days given how discussions around poverty and crime has changed. Given how crime is more often than not a result of poverty and a lack of social safety net than greed or lack of morals, the ethics of Batman bypassing the justice system¹ and beating the shit out of henchman comes into question.

My exposure to this line of thinking was FD Signifier's video on edge lords, but I haven't seen other people talk about it until now.

There is definitely situations where renting is preferable. Ideally (imo) all rental buildings would be government owned an not-for-profit.

You're asking for information that is simply irrelevant, police should and can disarm people wielding melee weapons. I too have had positive experiences with cops, this proves absolutely nothing. You are entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to think society would be better off if people like you had a more critical opinion of an organization that does pretty much anything other than serve and protect.

A quick google search shows that police in Canada killed 30% less people per capita (in 2022), so it seems our cops are a little bit less shitty but still pretty shitty.

I can only speak from my experience with the Canadian healthcare system. Getting a family doctor is a huge struggle right now but if you have one you can book as many appointments as you want for free. (and there are always walk-in clinics which are also free)

He has a TV showing him Gotham news or some shit. idc what happens in the comic. I'm not defending the movie just telling you what I remember from watching this movie like 10 years ago. There's a lot of stupid shit in the movie but it's made abundantly clear why he's alive and in prison.

As others said, not Paul. It's weird as fuck, completely surreal. But it's the most amazing book I've ever read. The transformation is considered weird as fuck by the characters in the book too, but it allows Frank to explore some truly unique and interesting ideas.

I don't think I will ever again have a literary experience as satisfying as reading that book.
