  • Well no. I live rural. So rural we don't have pedestrian walkways or anything.

I'm not anti public transportation. I'm pro pro pro. However trains don't help rural. Rural get shafted on most things. No broadband no sewage no bin pick up. You have to drive.

I fucking hate driving. I would happily sit on any number of vehicles. It's just not feasible unfortunately.

The country I currently reside in has no trains. Relies on planes which is beyond infuriating

  • Again I don't disagree. I think untill gamers or consumers lobby the industry, we will keep getting shafted. None of those things listed help the consumer. Maybe patches and new updates but not if it doesn't ship with a completely unbroken game

  • Oh absolutely. Don't disagree. My original point was the madness that the world follows through with the elves and red Santa sleigh thing. I've not researched into when those things started happening. I was just assuming around the 50s after the war. Obviously Xmas has been around in some for a lot of humans existence.

I specifically was thinking about what parents lie to kids about. I'm not sure exactly what that is though.

The red guy was the 50s I think. Before that he was green and I think I bit more st Nicholas. But it's hard to nail down since there's likely very few accounts of things. It wasn't a year where the world came to an agreement on what Santa was and how it should be portrayed. That would have been even more bonkers

  • The made up elves north pole. Guy in a sled handing out presents is family modern. Yes it goes back to pagan times but that was in a specific country.

Yeah all that is the origins. But the made up capitalism holiday it is now. It's only been since maybe the 50s and the most modern stuff is only 30 plus years old. Elves and the pretending.

    That bit

  • Religion is a different kettle of fish. It's pretty loose. Interpretation is a massive part. Why you've hundreds of different sects of Christianity. Loads of different ways to pray to worship and even what to do in terms of Christmas holidays and birthdays.

Christmas with Santa is similar with varying degrees. But it's still got some characteristics throughout. Plus it's only been what 50/ 60 years. It's come up fast and lasted.

  • Mate I got it. I have all the free games from epic.

My point was that it's not a "game" in the traditional sense. Anything online that requires a launcher is a licence.

Similar to me "purchasing" a film on prime. I don't actually purchase the film, I purchase a license to access the file solely through their system.

They can revoke or lose that license and I lose access. Different to me buying a DVD and I can use it whenever I want as long as I have a DVD player.

I agree. I was just following on the point from above. It is shit that we can't buy from company. I bought the game 10 years ago. Bit of double dipping. I've rebought a bunch of older games.

  • Was literally saying this yesterday.

At what point did the entire human race collectively agree. We make up a fictional characters that has elves and shit and can space travel with magic reindeer.

It's not just western world. Other parts just agree to go along with our madness

  • I was going to say. This is probably the opposite. Unfortunately once epic goes down. Because of their awful launcher you won't actually be able to use it

It's not a free game. It's a license to access a file through the epic launcher. They really shouldn't be able to sell it as a game. It's inaccessible without epic.

  • Typing on phone can autocorrect for some reason. I've no idea about out of the norm, but I'd expect it to be pretty likely. No worries. Happy to converse whenever. I'm a bit head strong but happy to be proven wrong

  • If only I could. My life's goal is that. To build what nobody else will. Unfortunately I must acquire great wealth in order to do that. Proving particular difficult. Still have some years left.

Then I can implement my manifesto

  • Appreciate it but I don't really bother with what the masses think of me. Joan of arc I remember is thought to have had schizophrenia. However she had an uncanny ability to rally people around her. Not sure that could be classed as savant.

The masses are generally unwilling to remove themselves from the status quo. Happy with their lives and just want a simple life.

    Why learn about anything.

More than likely most of the most well known artist were so spectacular because they weren't "normal" normal people do normal very well. They font excel and push the boundaries of human existence. Gotta be fucked out to push past that. Drugs can do it to some degree but for real greatness you need to be abnormal
