I don't think Lemmy has higher quality content, but it has less content which makes you interact with it to get more of your social media fix. I've seen this post a couple times passing by, and I've just come back to look through the comments because there isn't anything new to see.
I really didn't like Perdido Street Station. It seemed to me like the author has an obsession with bringing up poop which is ironic because I also felt like he has verbal diarrhea. I thought the world building was great, and it had some fantastic characters and concepts that I wish it explored more, but overall I disliked the writing, and it didn't pull me in. By the halfway point I was just waiting for it to end, in what I expected to be a grim and unsatisfying way.
I'm not the OP but I can understand both sides. The first 3/4 or so was great. Good plot, great characters, pretty sweet science. Then at the end... all this jazz about love. It felt like they didn't know how to end the story.
Additionally, if you're a big sci fi nerd like me, the ideas of

all of that has been done before. I mean shit, in Star Trek

both Picard and O'Brien have lived decades or lifetimes in false lives only to return to where they left from and been expected to resume living as if nothing happened.

Honestly, I don't think there's much you can do but I have a relative who is a nurse and they mentioned they double up on face masks and basically overdose on strongly smelling stuff. Mint drops, gum, toothpaste between the masks, essential oils, etc. I know you're not looking for ways to deal with the smell but opening some windows will help as well.
I'm also an evening showerer. I don't know how people navigate the world all day, participate in traffic, be in dusty wind, cook, etc and then get in their bed and sleep comfortably.
It means fucking nothing. Many and split are relatively vague terms, so if you ask them to prove it, maybe they'll find some chucklenuts on twitter with 2 followers complaining that their nude character mod got disabled. This is pure controversy bait, and the author is a turd muncher
That’s your story about the worst a teacher has treated you? Man, I’m stoked to hear how much better things have become!
I'm sorry you went through that stuff, but it's not a suffering competition. Frankly, I've had both teachers that used sticks and rulers to punish us, and teachers that screamed at me constantly, and it's the second one that I remember most frequently and the one that gave me paralyzing test/performance anxiety. That's the one that took years of self reflection and some therapy to make some progress on. Fuck that teacher.
My mother's homemade bread. We had an outdoor wood fire oven and she made sourdough bread with the thickest, burnt crust, but the softest, fluffiest crumb. We moved, and I've never had bread that good since.
Amino acids and fragrance substances in tea can calm us down. In late night, a calming tea can help us sleep better. Theanine's calming effect is the long-term result of tea-drinking. The higher theanine content can effectively suppress caffeine's stimulation in our nerve system.
I don't mind at all. Pay the extra few bucks to avoid obnoxious lines, cramped aisles, loud people, wasting time searching for one item or another, carrying heavy and cumbersome bags, etc. I pay like 7 bucks once a week or 2 weeks for that in Denmark. 100% worth it for me.
Legitimate interest is the phrasing used by the legislation, which is why companies use it. The wording of the law is pretty lax so a lot of companies put whatever they want in there. I think the intent of the law is to have those cookies be the kind that the website needs to work. For example, they might use that to store which cookies you chose to enable. If you don't want analytics cookies, the site would make a note of that in those necessary cookies.
Personally, I have my browser set up to clear cookies when I close it, and I have a few sites set up as exceptions.
Dude your mom sounds legit
