  • Whoa, whoa, whoa... Let's not just run around spouting wild and crazy ideas. Have you prayed on this and spoken to God about it? Perhaps it was part of God's plan all along for those children. Bet you didn't think about that did you?

  • I've come up with the idea of an annual test of basic facts and current events (very basic). Once I get to the point where I can't pass this test with flying colors, off me and launch my corpse into the ocean via trebuchet plz. Game over. Not interested in seeing where the rest of that ride goes. Seen it many times before with family members and I don't like it.

  • One thing I don't see mentioned here at all is the financial burden incurred by caring for a family member with serious problems like this. Obviously this is very dependent on the country in which you live but at least in the United States it is very possible to be buried in debt for caring for someone else. Personally, I will be trying to pay off medical bills from taking care of a family member in their final days probably for the rest of my life barring a miracle.

I'd rather not potentially saddle my children with the same if I can avoid it.

  • This is the main reason I have not had children. I am almost 100% guaranteed to get Alzheimer's in the pretty near future. Having watched countless of my family members go through the absolutely heart wrenching process of Alzheimer's progression, I can't in good conscience have children (so far anyway, I'm not 100% on it) for two reasons:

    • I don't want to put them through the grueling process of caring for, and dealing with someone dying from Alzheimer's
    • While it's not guaranteed obviously, I don't want to doom a child to a very very good chance of getting Alzheimer's at some point in their lives.

There is of course a chance for a treatment to be developed but they've been saying that for decades and haven't really come up with much of anything so far.

  • What do you do for work?

I hate working. I only work to do have food, a roof over my head, and to be able to do the things I actually like doing. The absolute last thing I want to spend 20 minutes talking about is my job.

I don't fault anyone for asking this, it's a completely common and innocuous question, I just can't stand it.

  • Absolutely agree. The other things are just garbage and a waste of energy to consume. If for some reason you find yourself with trail mix that isn't all chocolate, what you want to do is just heat up the trail mix over a strainer and let all the chocolate fall thru. Let the chocolate cool, throw away the rest, and then eat the remaining chocolate once it hardens. Enjoy the best trail mix ever.

  • I booked a hotel online the other day and was asked if I want to leave a tip... A tip for what? I didn't even interact with a human. Just clicked a few buttons on a website. Am I tipping the web developer?? Lol

  • I think it's something with the host. I had the same issue with another one. It's fantastic on my phone and even plays on my feed in the thumbnail which is slick but on my PC it's a dead link

  • Plus I have cats and no other humans here so it’s a quiet, comfortable, loving environment, and no job can provide that for me.

Looks like someone just needs some more team bonding activities and pizza parties with their team! Nothing builds a loving environment like a strong team!

  • I absolutely love it cause it's such a fantastic break from the stress and frustration of working. Dog comes in and you just get to chill out and pet a dog for a bit while getting paid for it. But I could definitely see it being annoying if the dog was yapping all day or just being annoying. I haven't had a bad experience tho.

  • I've been logged in on two different accounts for years and haven't noticed anything. It uses microg to handle the login stuff and I haven't heard of any issues like that happening with others either.

  • I mean you are correct to some extent. But I'm curious, how does this not happen in a system where the state has full control? The only difference is the consumer has no other choices and the "politics" don't have to be paid for as they are already fully in control.

Unless you mean to say that by the good graces of the government they'd never do that in a state run economy because it's morally wrong. In which case... Lol
